It was the cylinder that fell in half that shocked me!
I suppose that's what happens when a valve drops at 6500 rpm!

Ok awesome plan turned into a fail, due to lack of fundage!
So engine rebuild and a bit of wielding is on the cards, I've bought a newish counterweighted crank, which is currently down at hamlins getting balanced, I was looking at getting a set of 044 heads to replace the damaged ones, but after getting them looked at, they can be repaired, by tig welding up the dents, and then getting the combustion chamber reshaped to match the existing one. It's going to stay as an 1835, but I may install larger valves while the heads are in bits, and the guides and seats are being done anyway.
With the money I'm saving by rebuilding the heads, i may treat myself to a new carpet set, and maybe get the headliner done as well, just to try and make the inside a nice place to be (if it ever gets driven)

Ok, Thanks to scoop and Nomates for giving me a push on Saturday, the car is now outside the house, minus the nearside floor pan, I had to cut it out to get an idea of how bad the rot was
Not too bad, the last 12 inches of the heater channel bottom was rotten, as was the front 18 inches or so, I cut it all out, and I also used this as an opportunity to replace the flitch panel as well, as it has been subject to a few 'temporary' repairs.
New panel welded in.
After a skim of filler, and under coated with galvanising paint
While the panel was off I coated the inside of the bulkhead and in the heater channel with galv paint and waxoyl underseal.

Heater channel all repaired now,
Rear,
Front,
Did a trail fit of the floor last night, I'll try and get it in and welded later, then it's underseal all that, and start re- fitting the interior.

New pan half in and sealed,
Coated the bottom and anything else in galv paint! Just need to paint everything now, underseal on the bottom, and Smoothrite inside.

New fuel line in this morning, 8 mm OD, 0.6 mm wall thickness, and I flared the ends to give a bit more of a secure fitting to the flexible hose
Fitted to my newly painted floor!
Just got to try and refit everything now, takes twice as long to fit it as it does to remove it!

Last little welding job before the car is back tucked away again, was to make a steering stop, apparently it's a mot fail to use the inner wing to control the range of the steering.
I welded a m16 nut to the side of the shock tower and threaded a bolt in there so the control arm hits that instead, easy!
Just got to refit the fuel tank and amps etc, then I'm waiting for the engine.

Well, here we go with saving the engine!
Crank gears on
Rods on
Crank in the case, with new bearings, followers etc.
Missed a few photos, but here's setting the end float.
That's as far as I am with the build, but the heads are getting there Welded with new bigger seats fitted
You can see where the head needs to be ported to blend in with seats
That's it so far!
