| Prep and spray the holes for the trim where i welded them up, spray the door and get that bolted to the car, want that done by the end of this weekend, Mrs Big al is working, which means that i can enlist the help of little big al to make a mess of my garage! when thats done and i've got a bit more room in there, i shall drop the engine, do any repairs in the engine bay and fit a removeable rear valance sans cutouts! | |

| dechroming went well, not bad for proper job filler and primer, and a rattle can match from panel shop! Unfortunatley, when i sprayed the door, the gun splattered like heck, and its got more runs in it than the curry gardens toilet, i'll be sanding it back for hours. Never mind, thats the joy of vw's! | |

| I'm not going to be able to make CTTP, having a bloody nightmare with fitting up the drivers door, can't get the fffffing window to shut properly, tried two different sorts of windows, two diffrent sorts of winder mechs, the electric window actuator gives up with only half an inch for it to shut. grrrrr. closes lovely if i use my drill! secondly, the bloody paint that i got matched, dries darker than the paint on the car, so i have a patchwork purple car at the mo, i think i'll just flat the car down and give it a "pimp my ride" blowover in the garage and polish it like mad! removeable valance works lush, but in my haste to get the car done by next weekend, i'm losing too many days at work, also i'm starting to make silly mistakes. just think i'm going to take my time, do it right, cos if i lose my temper i'll end up breaking something, getting in a pi$$ and not touch it for a week! Target now bristol volksfest, and have it looking SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Post some more pics soon. | |

| That's a shame Al I know the feeling as Babylon won't be finished for the cruise either .... But it's better to get things done right than having to re-visit jobs to re-do them |

| Window Issue resolved! lots of lining up, combined with the fact my new window glass is a mill thicker than my old glass, extra weight plus tight channels equals hassle! going great now, dropped the engine out and replaced the clutch and the oil seal that some pr1ck had put in the wrong way round, while the engine was out, i gave the engine a bloody good clean to get all the sodding dry powder off that i sprayed on it to put the fire out, changed the J tubes, and wrapped the exhaust in thermal wrap I also flanged my quality bugpack header so it would fit snug in the tube for the silencers, should help gas flow! Next, its more bodywork, got a little bit of rust at the bottom of the passenger door, the way my weldings going.... No problems!!!! | |

| After my engine woes, the extent of my problems are becoming clear, apart from the damaged caused by the foriegn objects (screws, washers!) i had a bent valve and a damaged valve seat, also P*$$ poor compression on 1 & 2, this became clear when i was having the heads looked at in a machine shop, instead of just milling the heads flat like i asked, they decided to remove and re-grind the valves, also, ream the seats smooth again. they are going to cut the heads and case for the new barrels, and drill and tap the case for full flow. as soon as they come back, i'll rebuild the engine, chek the compression ratio, and sort out the valve geometry, it was a bloody mess when i took it apart, both pedastals were spaced out by different amounts on both sides. might get the car back on the road by august, better had, new baby due on the 11th! | |

| Can't really say, it's being done on the sly in a factory which specialises in rebuilding engines and transmissions, made cleaning the engine a piece of P*$$ with special hot chemical cleaning tanks!!!!! Finished putting one side of the case together in about 10 minutes earlier on, take some pics tomorrow. | |
