72 bug she's back

Right then not much to say really we got her on the 24th of june 2004 to use while the bay was having its resto. We gave £1600 for her...




She had a 1641 engine with a engle 110 cam, high perfomance cam followers, hardened collets, lightened and balanced bottom end, twin 44 dellortos, 009 dizzy and a stainless steel turbo trip exhaust.

Shes lowered on the front with drop spindles, uprated fat anti-rollbar, uprated bushes amd spax adjustables alround. Theres a set of drilled disk up front. Empi 8's 185/60/15's front and 185/65/15's on the rear. Apart for that she was standard.

The tyres got changed straight away to 195/50/15's front and 195/65/15's rear. Underneath was very sound and rust free but the body had some rot on it the passenger door skin would flap in the wing so sourced a good second hand one there was a huge hole in the front wing under the bumper. She was a good rat look bug.
When at JAMBOREE we get a set of pre 67 wings, sloping head lights, 1200 rear lights and a pre 67 front panel for £50 8-)
Once LOWLA was back the bug got played with. The wings and lights were fitted, new black wing beading, new fibreglass W decklid, new pre 67 rear panel, new cal look window rubbers, new pre 67 running boards, new pre 67 wide chrome body trim, new blade bumpers and fitted a pre 67 fuel tank. I then painted her in red oxide 8-) which was sweet.


I then painted her matt vw met blue.




The rear end got lowered abit the bumpers changed for pre 67 t-bars,



I fitted a new clutch and flywheel oil seal this is the only trouble we've had with her bless her shes good as gold.
For the mot she needed the rear brakes rebuilding and a new master cylinder and three bulbs and the magic tree moving.No welding at all how cool was that.

Then the end off april 05 we got offered £1400 without the engine in her so she got sold with a 1500sp. The engine and carbs went in the crewy and the cash got her on the road.

Then the 1500 packed up so the bloke bought a brand new 1600tp for her and he done around 1100 miles with it and he said the loom brunt out so has been parked up for 9 months we've been trying to by her back since we sold her.... This was the last chance we were gonna give him after 2 months of phone calls and text i struck the deal for £800 with the new motor in. I spent yesterday getting it running right and trying to find a burnt wire but there isn't any every thing seems to work fine..

What Frizzy wants Frizzy gets by xmas Frizz WILL of past her test and be driving the bug...

Gonna get the mot booked for this week....

The only real change is the motor every thing else is the same but shes got a bit ratty now

The only car i've sold and regretted was this bug i was so gutted, but well happy to have her back....

Got her back on saturday and in for mot today


Anyway it was mot day so i've got a bit of a list to work through :

Nearside seat belt u/s
Hazard tell tale light not working
Washers not working
Rear number plate
Front side light
Fuel cap missing :
Both rear shocks have serious leaks
Both rear outer sills corroded
Hand brake and service brake below requirements

These are already done...


New shocks and fuel cap on order..

should be moted by now she only feld on monday

I'm in no hurry to get it done plus i can't be arsed to do it

i'm confused dude, what engine are you putting in then....... also hows the new panel?

She came back with a brand new 1600 tp..

The Panel's good cheers needs a bit of playing with but she's on the road..

But then she has probably got more sense than to nail the tits off her car off the lights!!!

No it doesn't blow and Frizz isn't driving yet so i nail it of the lights

Heres a pic of the smoking jacking point from when i was repair the channels ;D

After Carl used Frizz's bug and said how nice it was to drive apart from the standard shifter having a long throw, but not sloppy still nice and tight i always thought it was good...

I went out and bought a EMPI T-shifter and just fitted it theres hardly any movement at all now it'll be even better when it gets the big motor nice short shifts for wasting the local chavs

Sorry bud i had to pull them

Collected Frizz's original long bonnet gave it a clean and a good looking at it's not in to bad condition..














And collected a pair of good doors aswell one needs a little repair in the centre of the panel where the water sits on the sound deadening pad and rots the panel inside out

Took a quick trip in the bug to Kennford just south of Exeter to collect Frizz's roof rack, we got there and whacked it on while we were down there...
As you can see it needs slight adjustment to make it fit better and the 2 slats that aren't on it i have got but took them off before they blew off

The t-shifter looks cool! It is definately coming together nicely

Cheers bud it may look cool but it needs adjusting cos it's a struggle to in to 1st gear apart from that is great..

Is that a big job or just a fiddly pain in the arse job

Should only take a couple of mins but i just keep putting it off as it ain't really broke

Nice new set of plates for her turned up today..

The popes nose turned up today so i whacked it on with the new plate then thought i better fit the all reds (cheers Edd)...
