loving this as per usual,

Cheers fella. Cant wait till the weather improves so i can get some decent tyres on her and drive her like she's meant to be driven.

Fixed some more engine problems, tracked it all down to the Lamda Sensor being faulty. So replaced that, and cleared the fault on VAGCOM.

Runs soooo much nicer now, and the car responds much better and sounds stronger too. Well happy!!

At a VW meet recently






The Inlet manifold and Cam cover are no longer bright red as i thought it looked a bit silly, so they are now done gloss black instead. Makes the bay look much neater.

wish i had the money to buy it, but will just have to stick with doing the vr conversion to my mk2

The car is undergoing a makeover so expect to see some changes over the next year.

Firstly the red engine had to go. So the inlet manifolds and rocker cover are now gloss back.




Re-making the solid front engine mounts.



Small bumpers are now gone.

Which Roller? if you mean Rolls Royce then we have a few knocking around in a state of work.

Haha cant remember that dude. At least it didnt break down in front of you. lol

Decided the car needed beefing up in the looks department, so smoothed, then colour-coded some GTI big Bumpers. They are usually black on the top and coloured bottom half but i thought i'd be different and colour code the lot.

.....now im not sure i like it


(note the bumper is only resting in there and not bolted up yet, hence why its wonky)



I had to drill and use coach bolts to hold the metal frame to the plastic bumper as all the plastic clips had snapped. Also the bumpers werent in very good condition to start with and i must admit i didnt go too mad on the prep work.

I have also taken the Cage out so that i can re-weld new stronger mounts in, and also spray it the same colour green as rest of car.

Cutting out rust




As the Sill repair panels and complete sills are now Obsolite from VW we had to make our own panels from sheet steel.





Quick skim of Fibregalss to smarten it up before a few layers of Body Schaltz and waxoil





Otherside wasnt as bad, but still needed some attention





Next up the cage came out for a freshen up and some new mounting plates made on the body




Cage has only had 2 coats of base coat as i ran out of paint. Hopefully i will have a few hours tonight to chuck on some more, and maybe laquer.

Fitted the front bumper last night but didnt have my camera with me so no photos. I wasnt sure on the big bumpers at 1st but its grown on me and makes the car look ard as nails.

Cheers guys. I put the final coats of base coat, laquer / hardner on the cage last night... looks awesome!! Gonna try and fit it tonight without scratching it as its a tight fit. eek!

Then need to make myself a rear strut brace to stiffen things up and also be able to mount my harnesses to it.

Loving it buddy looks sweet.. When you said you colour coded all the bumper my heart sank cos there was one in town last year and looked shite.. But yours looks sweet as, great work...

Cheers dude. Yeah i was really unsure if the colour coding would work or not, but i cant stand using back to black every week on bumpers to stop them fading. haha

It looks a lot better with the front bumper on, i will take some pics at weekend.

in the long run it will be cost effective aswell , dont have to buy so much back 2 black, and an ace loook
