| Well, this update is long over due and im pleased to announce that the 1st stages of the Turbo conversion has started.!! (finally) Nothing too exciting tho im affraid... when i built the car originally i ran the 3 engine looms from the fusebox inside the car, into the engine bay, along the bulkhead and down the chassis legs. This was fine and worked well enough but i was never happy about how it looked. But recently i have realised that when i mount the Turbo, it will be directly where the looms run across the bulkhead, so would melt in no time at all. So i had to completely remove all 3 looms which sounds straight foward but trust me i was pulling my hair out!! After sorting what cables need to go where, cutting, soldering, extending, shortening and wrapping the newly modified looms in heat proof trunking then now run from the fusebox, along the chassis leg, along the front of the car, and up the other chassis leg. Still yet to re-solder new plugs on and connect it all up but already it looks so much neater, and most importantly all out of harms way. Im not sure how long it will be until the turbo is actually bolted on as me and Sam have recently got engaged so most of my spare money will be going towards the wedding next summer. But at least this is a start. No pics im affraid as its a boring update and my camera is broken. | |

| OK, the car is booked in for a session at Castle Combe on the 24th July, only problem is the exhaust measures 108db @ 4000rpm (track limit is 100db @ 4000rpm) so i need a mk2 Golf GTI or Mk3 VR6 centre silencer if anybody knows of one? | |

| Why not use the old motorbike/scrutineering tirck of removing the back box, place in the header pipe a cut down ali drinks can with a hole in it, and then replace the back box. It'll get past the scruit's and after a couple of laps it'll be gone. | |

| Just an update... there is no way the car will be ready for Combe on Saturday. Since re-doing the wiring looms i have had loads of problems. The previous owner of the red golf i had (where the loom in KAT is from) had cut it about so much that i have had to re-solder so much of it. I wish now i had got a new Loom and started again. The car struggles to fire, but when it does it only runs on 2 cylinders. I plugged my VAGCOM laptop in the diagnostic port and it came back with the following faults.... 00513 engine speed sensor no signal 01257 Idle Air Control Valve -N71 01247 EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80 01250 Cylinder 2 - Injector Fault -N31 D 01251 Cylinder 3 - Injector Fault -N32 D 01252 Cylinder 4 - Injector Fault -N33 D 01253 Cylinder 5 - Injector Fault -N83 D So looks like im going to have to remove the looms again and trace it all back. Gutted is an understatement as it was looking really neat | |

Was a combination of crap solder joints, dodgy connections, and a break somewhere in the fuel pump loom. | |
