| After losing my way with Ron for a while I am back on it now Thought I would get on with the Pan... Cut out the worst part of the rust that was around the o/s jacking point... Found the rear member to be a little far to gone so chopped that out and fabbed up a new piece... Hey presto... Repair panel clamped in... Then welded and ground down... And spot welded at the rear... It's a shame the I had to go bigger than the repair panel but I obviously wanted to get back to sound metal. | |

| After spending 8 Hrs working on the pan yesterday, I had a look at it this morning and I really am not happy with how the small repair panel has gone in, so I am thinking of replacing both pans with the Wolfsburg West Grey pans. At £500 a pair there not cheap but from what I have read the are the very best you can buy. The pressing and fit are perfect and they are made from 18 gauge steel. | |

| Repaired bits look pretty bloody neat from here... What didnt go to plan?
If I had to replace pans again, those would be what I'd like to use. I wanted them at the time but couldn't justify the cost, but the ones I used from coolair/mexico were so thin/mis-shapen I'd never use them again. | |

| Everything that is left now is 100% solid metal. The gearbox had a slight leak on the nose cone so over the years a little gearbox oil had dripped into the tunnel and as such the inside of the backbone is like brand new. So, off to order the new pans now | |

| New floor pans turned up today at last... The quality of these pans is very good indeed, the pressings are almost perfect and they are a very heavy gauge metal. Spent an hour or two checking fitment and stamping out the 114 plug weld holes at 40mm intervals (Yes I know I'm sad) | |

| Managed to find a few hours over the weekend so trial fitted both pans... As I said before, the fit is really nice... Notice that the pressings are for a LHD car on the front of the left pan so I'll have to correct that. | |

| As I said before the pressings were wrong on the front of the left pan because the pans are for a LHD car. So, chop it out... Flatten the section... clamp in back in... Weld it up... | |

| Obviously had to slice the other two ribs, flatten and weld those up along with removing the welded on nut and filling that hole. | |

| Also managed to strip the gearbox down ready to be cleaned up and painted. Quite amazed that the box was still wearing it's original unsplit gaiters and oringinal clips... | |
