| Well, I have got the Notch in with Classy Campers to get that bloody drivers side door resprayed. It was the one thing about the car that really bothered me, whilst it was in there I decided to have a good poke around and sort out anything else that may have needed doing. The sills were looking a bit crusty so they are going to get a looking at, as well as some bubbles on both doors. Here she is......................getting naked, ready for a rub down!! Passenger side sill. Looks even rougher up close!! Get the paint off and see what is going on... Hmmmm, some of these previous repairs aren't to the best standard. Nothing too much to worry about. A panel is en route from Type 3 Detectives for this side. All the rot is to be cut out and replaced with fresh metal. Ah bliss, this end of the sill didn't benefit from previous welding, simply plug the area with filler!! The bubbles along the bottom of the door have turned into this..... One previous repair on this corner of the door was ok, lead loaded, shame about the later work. Now round to the drivers side. I didn't think this side looked as bad........ Get the paint off for a proper look. It could have been worse, this just needs a sheet panel making up and welding in. Quick, sweep it up before anyone comes!!! Looking better, should be good for a few more years. Especially pumped full of Waxoil when it's done...... Up in the air it is solid. No rot at all in the floor etc.

| The other area that needs doing is the front clip side of the spare wheel well. It has been raised now as it was lower and I think that area ground out a lot hence it has blown through at the bottom. Not got any pics of that yet but hope to have some for the next update. When the paint is done the engine is coming out to sort the oil leak. First job will be to tighten the adjustable push rod tubes and then check the crankshaft oil seal. I am going to stick with the 009 and go 6v pertronix in that, so that will sort the timing, and then put the 5x130 discs on the back to lose the adaptors. 135 tyres to replace the 145 on the front will give a tad more tuckage and I have had the arches rolled to maximise clearance. Just on the hunt now for a 6v oil temp gauge. | |

| Nice one Scoops The sills were the only thing letting the old girl down, so glad you're getting them done while she's in. at least now it'll be piece of mind that she's getting sorted & waxoiled up to give protection! |

Ihave got some bits to go on there. A Sun 1960's 6v tacho (the one that Moon copied), a badge bar and some nice lights) as well as rear jail bars for the back shelf and a genuine and COMPLETE VDM wheel with red centre. | One sill sorted with fresh metal and a skim of filler. Looking much better I think. And some paint going on, this paint actually matches!! The other dodgy area was the front valance. Previously I think the car had been lower and this point had regularly ground out. Hence it had blown through with a bit of local rust. Out you come...... Shaun made a replacement panel up..... ....and slotted it into place. And covered up with some paint. The passenger side is next to get some paint on and then it's a few mechanical bits and bobs. Ie rear discs, oil leak and a couple of other little things. Should be back with me soon. | |

| Another update on this then. Went to have a proper chat with Ady yesterday..... The engine was dropping oil whenever it was warmed up, not a huge amout but it was annoying. So whilst the car is there it is getting sorted. So, whip the 1776 out.......from here....... to here It would seem the suspicions were correct, crankshaft oil seal had gone. Happily, despite there being plenty of oil in the bell-housing the clutch etc was okay. Unfortunately we have discovered a hairline crack in the gearbox casing. I am awaiting news to see if a local chap will go out to Ady's and Tig the casing for me. It's booked into the booth for Thursday, then it is just a case of getting the 6v Pertronix in and sorted, quick tune up and then get the rear discs on. Bit gutted it won't be back with me for Bibic but I am hoping to have it sorted for Vanfest. Might need a couple of late nights then to get the couple of accesories etc I have for it on there!! | |
