Cheers man, very happy, nearly all the bad rust is in the bolt on panels. Ive promised to keep the old owner Dizzy Dawn informed of progress as she owned dizzy 12 years and lived her life around dizzy, got a real good vibe from her when i picked the bug up. I was noughty though as it was dark and i dint haggle or look over the car, just hoped in and drove off lol Gonna have another play tomorrow and rip the seats out ready to find some original ones, also need to check over electrics and sort fuel leak. God its good to have a dub ive bloody missed all this

I havnt done anything new lol planned to today but got screwed with my golf. Had the windscreen man round as found the screen bonding had come away, he removed the screen to find it was glued in with body bond and still wet lol takes the piss, he cant save the screen and has to replace it. I bought the golf and its costing heaps, 2 new front tyres, bodged windscreen, airbag and abs lights are on all the time, needless to say i want to ring the previous owner up and call him a cunt. Contacted autoglass £348 to replace my windscreen, ranf paul windscreen warhouse £126.50 supply and fit new windscreen. Hopefully having the screen done in the morning, then onto the bug at last lol

Hopefully having the screen done in the morning, then onto the bug at last lol the reason the glass prive varies is the quality and thickness of the glass, the screen accounts for 20% atleast of the structural strength of the car, air bag light and warning lights are now an mot failure.

Cheers andy, getting the vagcom thing from a mate in audi monday so he can tell me why the lights are on. The screen was such a bodge it was dangerous, paul (windscreen chap) said one hard break and it would have fell out, there was hardly anything holding it in there, not good when its used daily to pick the kids up from school and so on. Just glad to get it sorted, realy have fell in luv with the tdi golf, goes like fook and is cool looking

| the reason i said about the glass, is the cheap stuff from glass fitters is basically pretty crap, thin glass, no weight in it. it has not got the strength of genuine glass.
genuine glass is really heavy.

Dont ask bud, who ever rebonded the screen before i owned it used the wrong glue, they also fitted the screen to low which coused other probs. All sorted now lol and the new windscreen was heavier than the genuine vw one lol

although it was vw stamped glass in the car it was real light compared to the new screen, the rubbers wasnt all that on the vw one either, the new screen is pilkington glass and seemed heavier, so this is a good thing i hope lol
