| I started tidying the air lines and wiring and started to put the interior back in. Carpet: Plus seats and a bit of the trim to give me a general idea: | |

| Progress is slow at the moment I snapped a brake pipe when trying to fit the new brake lines, and because he's not a normal UK car, I'm having fun and games trying to find the right brake line to replace it with.... thankfully the guys at Bridgwater VW are being really helpful in tracking down the right bit for me. Fingers crossed that the next one is the right one! | |

Most of it has been learnt by trial and error The only things we've ever been taught it a bit of bodywork when we did a course in Bridgwater. Never had any help with the mechanical or suspension side. Modern cars aren't as hard to work on as people think | |

| Yeah just the metal pipe. It's quite a tricky lot of bends it has in it as it's a tight squeeze in the engine bay, so if I made one it wouldn't fit due to me being crap at being able to do stuff like that! Plus the new one is only £6. | |

| Not too much has happened recently. I've been waiting for a brake pipe from VW for a few weeks. I managed to snap the connector off when disconnecting the old lines. Since Robbie's not a UK, or even a European car, he's quite difficult to get parts for sometimes. I bought one brake line which ended up being the wrong one, so had to change it for the right one. Each time they had to be ordered from Germany so took a week to arrive. Because Robbie doesn't have ESP, it made it a little harder to track the right part too. Anyway, it finally arrived and got fitted. Old one at the ABS pump end (bottom one nearest the camera): New one fitted: And connected to the new flexi line: Need to refit the brake line clip. Then I fitted the new pads and associated hardware to the new calipers: I have to say, fitting the pads on these was a pleasure! So easy to do and takes no time at all! Next up was to bleed the system. The reservoir looked filthy, so I gave it a quick clean so all the dirt didn't go into the fluid. Better: Also got one of the front indicators working: And worked out why I can't get the filler flap to fit. This is the hole on the kit: And on the original wing: So I expect I'll get my filing tools out again! Need to bleed the brakes a bit more again tomorrow before they're done. | |

| Cheers dude! it's mostly a case of trying to find out what he's actually supposed to have more than being able to obtain it - but there's likely to be one weird thing I'll need from over the pond at some point! | |

| As no one has spotted the mistake with the brakes, I'm just going to brush past that and carry on (it has been fixed!). New smoked indicators have been fitted: And the front bumper and wings are now properly fitted and headlights in. Pic shows indicators working too: I'm hoping that one day this week I can get him out onto the drive to get some proper pics. If not, I will at the weekend. | |
