| Cheers boys will do if i need you.. Had a think about it and reckon i'll slip the beam back in, bolt it to the roller, flip it over then brace the golf up remove the frame whilst the engine hoist holds it up and drop it down on to the mattress the pull the beam back out... Sounds easy but it might not work.. | |

| Well got down the workshop and moved the cars about, got the golf in the right place and bolted the roller on to it and flipped her on to her side.. Big thanks to Andy and Frizz for help to flip her over.. | |

| Nipped out to check how dodgy it's gonna to lift the back end up remove the rear frame and drop the beam out then drop the rear of it on to the mattress... Well it's gonna be pretty dodgy to do but think i'm gonna have ago anyway and put plenty of supports in place... | |

| Got out there after work and strapped the hoist to the rear beam, lifted the back end of the golf up, unbolted and removed the rear section of the roll over frame and dropped the car on to the mattress.. Then unbolted and removed the rear beam. And i removed the fuel tank.. Got a bit of light on the rear chassis to have a proper look at whats going on back there... The O/S And N/S. Couldn't do anymore tonight had a bit of a family crisis so had to rush home.. | |

| The beam mount repair panels turned up yesterday while i was at work, so had to collect them this morning... Then straight out to the workshop and got cracking on the N/S... Spent ages removing the thick sealer then marked it all up and cut out what was left the old panel.. Cleaned it all up and welded the panel into place.. Then just the little hole in the chassis and cross member to see to.. Cut out a section of the cross member to gain access to the chassis which revealed some more chassis rot so that all got cut out and fresh metal let into the chassis.. Then i had to repair the rear cross member.. So that the N/S chassis ect done.. Should be able to get on with making the O/S chassis leg later on or tomorrow.. | |

| Whipped out the unit first thing this morning before we went shopping.. Got on with making panels for the O/S chassis.. Started with this sheet. Measured up and cut to lenght. Then trimmed the width.. Bit of twisting and bending i ended up with one of these.. What was left of the chassis bottom plate was cut out. The bottom 20mm of the inner wing was a bit shabby and thin so that was cut out along with a dodgy plate that was there aswell.. And i've cut and shaped a some fresh metal to weld in.. As the N/S cross member was hiding a bit of chassis rot i thought it best i cut the O/S section out to check it.. And yep theres a bit in there aswell.. Couldn't do anymore cos i've ran out of gas, so tomorrow work permiting i should be able to get on with welding in the section i've made.. Could have all the welding complete underneath and back on all 4's by wednesday and the rear wheel arch ect fitted by next weekend and all in paint the weekend after possibly... | |

| Little update for today.. Pic of the preped rear beam.. Finshed shaping the section for the bottom of the O/S chassis.. Clamped it into place for marking and final trimming. Made a panel for the lower inner wing and welded it in.. Then welded the chassis section into place.. | |

| Righty then.. Made the panel for the section of chassis cut bent shaped.. Clamped in place for test fit.. And welded in place.. Made a panel for the cross member and welded it in place.. Drilled the inner wing and spot welded it all up.. Made the panels to finish the inner arch and inner rear quarter and welded it all in.. Cut the sill section out madea panel and welded it in.. So thats all the welding done apart from the rear arch, a little hole in the floor, 2 little holes in the front panel, the rear panel corners that i had to cut off to get to repair the chassis... Oh and abit on the front wing.... So that'll be half a days welding let... Thank good... | |

| Cheers dude..... Doing it Mars red.. Yeah for sure theres shit loads more rot then we thought. Only needed the rear arches and inner arch lips.. You wouldn't belive the chassis dude.. It looked MINT all original sealer and red paint.. BUT it was soft.. The metal had all gone so just the sealer holding the back end of the car together.. | |

| Looks like i'm gonna be getting a new rear panel and a drivers front wing... I might just cut the sections i need out of the new wing and glue them on to the old one cos the gaps are all spot on and a pattern panel will be proper pants.. | |
