wired it all in today, fitted the econo (bitch job!), everything sorted, turned cleanly & good speed, no nasty noises, fuel gettin to the carb etc.

Would it start................................

s'alright though, think ive sussed it (though battery now flat from churning over so now on charge)

Timing a mile out & 2 plug leads mixed up...... only sussed on the last legs of the battery.

at present the batterys still off in the garage, am goin out after lunch to hook it back up.

then im takin number 1 plug out & gettin a deffo TDC so i can time it static spot-on.

Got out there today, tinkered about, it backfired, it spat back up the carb n blew the airfilter off Rolling Eyes

Had timed it as per the Haynes............threw it back in the garage, took out the plugs & TDC'd each cylinder (checkin the timing/dwell each time the old fashioned way!)
turned over & started makin firing noises so i put fresh 98octane super-duper in it..............VROOM VROOM!

I nearly cried.........its loud as f*ck (dont think the econo has any baffles!)
Ran it for about a minute, then checked it over, couple of minor sweat leaks but nothin major.
