One sexy new weber carb later and it's alive... Minor misfire to sort, but hey, not bad for a 42k 22 year old car!

Well, no photos on here, but it has four 1 inch polo wheels and moon eye discs fitted, and it lives, roof down, I drove it down my cul de sac, turned it round and back onto the drive for a little rear end love (ooer!).

Tonight is ebay fest for lows, a washer pump and whatever pops up...maybe an oval speedboat style rear windscreen and a new roof?

Next week I'll order a proper set of clips for the throttle through vw, and start stripping the back, since it's taper bearings I may get away with stripping, cleaning and regreasing them...

Namster over and out.

No pics at the mo (bad internet signal)

> new rear brakes/bearings fitted,
> brake fluid changed, needs changing again but it'll do until it warms up outside and I can enjoy the time out on the drive,
> new track rod ordered for tomorrow,

Still missing/to do;
> passenger side door handle (mine snapped, may be common to late beetle?)
> drivers door mirror
> new roof
> new front seats (passenger one is pretty mouldy and needs a pull cable)
> front mini indicators need wiring in correctly with a ballast resistor
> body work wise, three patches of fibreglassing needed, and the front end blown over
> arch spats/cowls because my mk2 wheels stick out!
> electrical fault to trace - wipers turn on when lights flash!

Oh, and now there's a deadline, I'm off my folks insurance 20/12/11, and start on shift the third week of January... worried? Moi?

Luckily I've got every monday off this side of christmas, so with any luck I'll be able to book the last MOT slot before xmas with Shaun at Formula...

What bodywork needs doing?
Would you be better off getting it welded rather then grp?

To be honest, there's one arch that needs welding, with a hole in the same wing, a couple of pock marks on a rear wing, a small hole in a door skin.

I'm weighing up wether or not it's worth swapping the drivers wing, or repair patching it. The door I guess can be welded up but it's gone quite deep into the fabric of the door, so a skim will do for now. Like Dave sys, get it mot'd first and see what I've missed, I think the brakes need more bleeding but I'm pretty confident about the rest of the underneath...

Ultimately the long term plan is to get it on the road to get me to work, then this time next year when I'm employed as a full time engineer, take it off the road and spray it properly, get a nice interior made up to match all round, and replace any panels/the roof etc.

Andy, Si, I'll have a look in a mo, I'm waiting for Crazy Quiff to ring me back with a quote for all my bits, because they do a lot of business with the mk1 owners club...
