| Right, after Dirty Daves work. I dont want know piss taking on my work!! This the 1975 South African Import beetle. I wasnt sure what to do with it, break it for spares or get the work done and enjoy for the summer. I took the bull by the horn and gave it over to Dave. Dave then went on to do some investigating work on the roof gutters bottom of the doors. Dave removed and beam and chopped it 2 1/2 inches and put in beam adjusters. Knocked the back down one spline. Thanks for your work on this Dave. When getting the car back to mine, we realised there was a big problem with the steering and we broke down about 4 times on the way back (fuel starvation). This is how it looked then. Joker67 and I started looking for a unit, found one, lost one, then found one. I was conserned we would be a bit pusjhed for space to work around the cars!! When I got the car back from Dave, it had primer in many places, so I needed to seal the primer before the water set in. So I carefully colour matched the paint and blended it in! I know I know you cant tell can you!! Nomates came down and found that the steering problem was the king pins (oh yeah, and I had forgot to tighten the big steering box bolt!!) This is where I discovered I have the seal and washer missing for the ink pins. (the sarga continues) Also a problem with the drums I bought to save me reaming out the kling pins! After cleaning up, there is a lot of play in one of the king pins. I can see me buying new king pins and link pin set very soon!!! Next I removed the front wings, took off the wheel hubs and started the lovely job of cleaning up the wheel arches!! Oh joy, I found some new holes!! Did the otherside as well! I drilled out the spot wields and removed the front panel There was also a hole and rot in the wheel well!! So I cut it out and put in a plate (my fiorst wielding I might ad. [img] Feeling quite smug with myself, I thought I would try something a little more tricky!! So... I chopped out this bit a cut a new plate. Then offered up the front panel to check the fit. I still need to finish some bits off but run out of time today!! | |

| Dude, On those shock towers you need a nice big radii in that corner. You are going to get stress fractures in there otherwise. | |

I dunno dude.........you hit a pothole or the like a lot of force is put up through those shockers. Better to check it out and find out that I am an over-zealous plum andn they aren't needed than to not and the bloody towers to fracture....... | |

| they absorb shock ......if they were to bottom out I would agree ......don't get me wrong you are 100 precent right ...but I don't think they will cause a problem, a radii would be a better design tho | |
