PostSubject: Project no funds   Project no funds EmptyWed Feb 10, 2010 8:10 am

hi guys after the headgasket on the golf went, i decided to do the headgasket easy job, but due to my back injury getting worse again i got my m8 to put it back together (BIG mistake but more on that later) i came round to look at the car couple of days later and all back together but would not start so checked the timing etc all good but still would not start of i went and spoke to BIG DAVE he popped out to have a look (cheers m8) and gave me some pointer etc, but after another day of trying to get things running no luck, so i got in a pissy and decided to take the engine apart just to check my m8's work and what do i find........

6 bent valves
some really bad looking pistons

(but the worst part some small stones)
obviously my doesy m8 didnt check every thing when he put it back together Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

so i looks like the stones have caused the top of the pistons to eat themselves and bend the values, as the bottom of the head looks as bad as the pistons. So im stuck driving a fookin vectra Embarassed

But on a good side the engine is now out and weighed in lol! and all under the bonnet is now very clean and all back to red, just gotta get hold of another kr engine, and then paint the whole thing back to tornado red should look alot better then.

with luck will be able to get rid of those 18" alloys i have on the golf and then get a set of deep 16"s and drop the coilovers right down....

this is what it will look like when i am finished
Project no funds Car2a

think you will agree looks alot better afro afro afro

If you cant get hold of a Mk2 engine easily, then try looking into a Mk3 Golf 2.0 16v or even a 2.0 8v. My cousin has a Mk2 with 2.0 8v bottom end and 1.8 8v mk2 head.
It goes really well, and these mk3 2.0 engines are easier to come by than mk2 ones

got the engine all spotlessly clean today and painted the block and rocker cover plus put the head on with a nice new head gasket.
hopefully will get the engine back in the car by the middle of next week and have it fully running.

just got alot more cleaning of the engine bay to do before the lump goes back in.
