Dave I liked the look of your car when it was just that silver that u used before laying on the candy

I did think it was time for solid colour... Gloss black, purple or something!

I do have enough silver to do the car.........


BUT I've had another chat with the painter at work and he told me:
(same as Rich and Steve) it needs sealing/bar-coat etc....
AND I'm using the wrong thinners in the primer! If I'm using standard thinners, I may as well be using gun wash!!!
I can also chuck the whole lot on in one day, aslong as it's air dry!

...Bar-coat's turned up now, and I picked up some premium thinners. So one last try!

Well, I was using cheap standard thinners. And that stuff can also be used as gun wash really well(because it's full of acid and shit etc.).
You don't wanna put nice paint over the top of something that's used to remove paint from inside the gun!!!!
He said that stuff is only good as gun wash!
I've painted a dozen cars, always used standard thinners and never had a problem! But for the sake of £4/5 a gallon, I won't use it again!

Standard thinners has also got a high water content so i've been told...

cool dude....looking forward to seeing some candy fella....i used premium thinners from the panel shop seems to have worked well enough

As the light faded quickly and I've got no lights in the garage at the moment, I ended up painting by torch light! Torch in one hand, paint gun in the other!
Did end up with a run, but that aint nothing to sort out!

RESULT

great job davem, fingers crossed for the top coat dude.

My mini is sprayed the same colour, she was fine untill a few weeks after and then it started to react.

That sucks... Big time!

Luckily its not too bad, but easily noticeable when you get up close. It was a real arse cause I paid someone a hefty amount to spray her and then that happend.
But I think she still looks great!

Did they re-do it for you.........if not it doesnt notice from the picture...nice colour by the way

No they didnt, he offerd to and the found out he had throat cancer and had to have a trachesiostomy (or however you spell it) and had to give up spraying so I thought it best not to bother him with it!

It doesnt notice untill you look up close.
