The 66 Chop Top!!!

With CTTP and show season fast aproaching, and the bug lookin worse than ever, it's over due a makeover!

Still not 100% sure on how I want the finished car to look!

...I just know I want it to look better than it does at the moment!







The plan is to get it ready for CTTP!

First things first, getting rid of the rust!!!!



Bit of grinding to see what we got!



Cut out the old steel and put sone new in!


Tig welded in because it's less messy, stronger and alot easier to clean up




The rust had spread a long way down the bonnet!


After a clean up it was ready for some etch primer!

The plan is to keep it on the road as I do it! (I'll be driving it around with big holes cut in it! ) If all goes well it'll only be off the road over the 4 day weekend at easter for paint!

Still got the 1200 in there! It'll probably stay in there till it's time for paint!
As for colour, not too sure at the moment. I like metalic blue(MG Rover, 75?)!... But red's cool too!... we'll see!

Are you putting the moo cow interior back in?

That looks some great welding work! Did you use a skim of filler ir is it as flat as it looks? Good work!

It's not quite as flat as it looks! It will need a bit of filler! Or if there's enough time, I'll fill it with lead or brass!

Thanks for the offer of the moo cow interior But I think it is unfair to peel a cow just to adorn the door cards

And as for the filling dude, go down the lead and brass route, it is old school skool Well it is just proper

Rich, I'm saving that for when I'm really in the shit (EMO?! )!


Well, we've removed the rear valance, pulled the 1200 out and bolted the 1600 in!


...But couldn't get the 1600 started! So stuck the 1200 back in!!!
The 1600 was really tight to turn over. we had spark and lots of fuel! Think it was just turning over too slow to start!



Impy, it'll need a bit of tweekin to get it to fit a later car as the seats and the door cards are slightly differend. Yours if you want em!

my 1200 single is still on offer if you want dude

As it's gettin a repaint soon I thought it'd be easier to cut the rear valance off and make it a bolt on!

1600 in!





As the 1200 went back in it needed a bit of tweekin! 009 distributer makes it fly when the revs pick up but still runs lika a bag of crap low down!... nevermind, still better than it was!
