My first Beetle

Sorry i havent popped me head round the unit to help mate, been working solidly on 'job hunting' and not had a social life for a while. As soon as I get back on track and get some dispoable time then I'll be there dude.

looks like a lot of work from what i saw tonight but at the rate you have started should be finshed before rick's bus, hope it all goes to plan

Cheers Griff and to be honest most of the work so far has been done by Vince who works at an immense speed.

Those that go down the workshop can see the progress when ever they are around and seeing as the people that are helping me on this project are Headcrackers I thought it only right that the Resto thread went up on there and obviously on DubLovin to. Sorry guys I don't have the time to do 3 threads so please check out one of these if you are interested in knowing what is going on or just pop in the workshop and have a look.

To wet your appetite it is going to be a Rod with a number of differences that is definatley going to be noticed.

whats the point in using this forum if you cant be fooked to post the resto thread on it, ive posted my resto thread on 5 diffrent forums one being a ford forum

Not the whole thing but pics up part the way through and brings it up to where it is at now.




How much shite can you have on a chassis answer fookin loads.....








But it was no match for me with my trusty Grinder with the evil Brush attachment









Then primmed and sprayed chassis black by Vince













Then the rest of the bits to go back on the chassis were sprayed.
















Gearbox all nice and cleaned up to....







This is what the frame extender kit looked like before being sprayed









Everything fitted back on to the chassis







On the ground again nice and low just the way we like it















Body lifted back on so that Vince could cut the front wheel well out.









Vince got creative while I wasn't there now this is gonna look mental as with Safari windows in a split screen








That brings me completely up to date just gotta get a couple of pics
uploaded that shows what it will look like with a long bonnet on and
with engine lid on as
well.

Bloody Hell, that floorpan is never going to re-rust with that chequer plate welded in there is it??

The chequer plate has been riveted on and then seam sealed top and bottom nothing is gonna get through ever, plus also when the body is ready it is gonna be welded on to the floor pan by sinking some box section into the bottom of the body. It isn't ever coming apart

oh and these are the wheels that are going on.

One finished front inner wing with an extension done to make it look a lot nicer

Thats about it for now apart from the Rod has now been named by Becs
from Headcrackers and the name is The Rusty Bitch or Rusty for short

Are you planning to do some cross bracing to the floor pan/body as well as adding the strengthening to the sills area??

That looks FOOOkin awesome mate, can't wait to see it finished.
If you keep that up with the strengthening it will out last you

Thats totally Vince's area but I don't think it needs it as the floor pan is so solid it's unreal I just go with what he says as he knows what he is doing. Oh and all being well I should have your model on Sunday as the guy is back from Poland and unless anything goes tits up he will be at Slough.
