I think we're booked in for an indian with some friends tomorrow night. I'll find out in the morning. If we're not we might pop down, be interesting to put faces to names and cars to faces!

No I've not fitted an oil cooler, so can't help you on that one I'm afraid. I'm hoping over the course of this year to buy the parts for a bigger engine with a view to building it up over the winter for next year depending on funds...
Your car close to being on the road again? Looking forward to seeing it.
I'm sure you'll be taking it up to Shakespeare County Raceway to test out that big motor... right? no problem dude.....i'm getting there its been a slow week in terms of progress hoping to get some time on it over the weekend.....and yes i'll be hitting the strip when the gremlins are ironed out and the motor complelety broken in i'm interested in seeing what the motor will make after the 6000rpm.....it made 211.8hp.....and it revs to 8500 rpm 8500 Should be good for 13's... Have you taken it down the strip yet in it's previous guise or will this be your first time?

It's a 1584cc at the moment. <<<<like my user name It's actually an old Arnie Levics lump which I have caned the f**k out of. It's had a little work on the heads and some 36's. Amazingly it's got no end float or leaks

| Just picked this car up from it's resto. (well 2 weeks ago). First time I'd really driven the car for about 7 years, so I was a bit nervous. Had to drive it 180 miles to get it back. Got two miles down the road and the wife who was following me flashed me to tell me one of my rear lights had just gone out (a fuse had blown). Got another 20 miles down the road and the windscreen wipers stopped working luckily the drizzle had just stopped. Thought that would be it, but no. Got to the M6/M5 interchange where all the roadworks are and there's no hard shoulder and the generator warning light came on No way was I going to pull over until I got to the hard shoulder, so had to keep going for a couple of miles, until I could pull in. It wasn't the fan belt so I carried on, hoping there was enough juice in the battery to keep the engine running all the way home as it probably wasn't being charged. I had planned to drive at a steady 60 to get home but then speeded up to 70, then from Bristol to Bridgwater it was 80 Car made it back, just, went to restart after I got home and the battery was flat! The wife reckoned it was like a Herbie film as I was weaving in and out the traffic, no indication to preserve the battery They say every journey in a VW is an adventure! | |
