He's been sitting, waiting for about 2 years. And today he left my house to go for welding. Next few months of sweat and late nights ahead of us!! Bring it on Buster.
Chuffed that I got one photo up there, bought the camera today especially.

After a day on the seafront....



we started taking bits of rust off him. Much easier to hit and wait for it to fall off than to worry about grinding!





Gonna whizz along. Need some repair panels (suprisingly), anyone got any going cheap? type 1 68 onwards (not 1302 or 1303). Heater channel end plates, door pillar repairs, door to rear wing plate (bottom) both sides, vertical panel on shell behind pedal cluster, front assembly - whole thing really and front inner wing panels (at the bottom by heater channels).

crikey just a little bit of rust there then.

You certainly have your work cut out restoring that.

No wonder it wasn't warm in him....

Shouldn't take long now, not going the whole hog with this one though. Body off, body on but no respray. Don't think he'll make it to CTTP, be a good challenge though. Dee Dee will be going.

He's gonna be warm and the floor will be secure again! The drivers seat was stopped from falling through the floor because of the notch on the side of the seat being jammed against the side of the car. Memories!!


Both door posts needed doing.

Got used a lot more than the grinder this time round.

such a huge amount of work, but it'll all be worth it. L)

Not long now I don't reckon. Small bit of welding to finish, beam to finish, petrol pipe to renew, bits to paint still, put back together, seats to put in and there you go.

Been a couple of weeks since I updated. Had a cold so had to have 2 evenings off - still annoyed about that. He's really improved now and doesn't wanna be called Rusty Busty anymore, Buster is good.
He had a home visit, couple of things to weld. Gotta spend some time with the welder by myself and have a proper go.





All the welding and small bit of fillering done now. Used tons of paint and brushes, I went for the 'chuck 'em' rather than 'clean 'em'. Trying not to fill too much, I like the look he's got, a used look. And the colour he's turned himself is fab - a mix of original paint, faded paint, polished paint, dust, tea stains and general dirt. A new bit of green hammerite to top it off..






Sprayed waxoyl into every crevice and used schutz for under the floorpan...




As for the beam, yes it would be done if one of the new ball joint threads didn't bugger up, and yes it would be done if the replacement ball joint from GSF was in the right f***ing box. But it's getting here tomorrow and we'll get it pressed in ready for wednesday. GSF are great for price but every order somehow has something missing, or something wrong.

One month? Two? Be worth it in the end. Took the purple one out other night for a quick jaunt to remind myself why I'm doing this.
Hopefully see you at the next meet, Dee Dee (purple one) will be out more in this weather.
