| ran out of lead sticks, so looked on frost, they wanted £6-00 per lead stick, thought this is going to costs a lot. so on a trading website a found a leading kit for sale at £25-00 , it came with a set of 6 paddles, and all the items required, and 12 sticks of lead. could'nt belive my luck. | |

andy I like the idea of lead - it looks very, very neat!
Is it easy to do? Or does it require lots of skill? its not the easiest material to work with, as there is quite a bit of preperation, then you warm the lead , and be very careful how warm you get it , otherwise you end up with a £5-00 bar of lead on the floor in a blob. But it seals off joints very well, and edges that could be damaged easy if filler was there , are a lot stronger. i am still going to use plastic filler over the top of it, as the cost is expensive. it is a metheod used by all classic car repair shops of any quality and any coach built car has all the panel joints lead filled. i learn't in a ford garage by an old guy i used to work with, as capri's granadas, etc used to have lead joints in the rear wing panel. andy

Altho I can see myself with a nice expensive lead floor have a look on restowagen at the 54 cab, as gavin at trailer queen has been using lead quite a lot, on that. the price of all the equipmet just to get going is at leats £200-00, and then you will have to buy more lead. i was just lucky to pick the lead kit up cheap. but i still had all my body files and fluxes, tallow and a couple of bars of lead in my tool box from years ago. also need a blow tourch to warm the lead.. read this http://freespace.virgin.net/tommy.sandham/leading.htm and watch this. http://www.sovereigncoachworks.com/page2/files/page2-1002-pop.html andy
