'Beryl' The 1957 RHD Ragtop Oval with suicide doors!

I must say im a happy bunny this morning!!!
Just got Beryls log book through to find she has only had 2 previous owners, not bad for a 51 year old bug I reckon. Gary (the bloke who we bought her from) bought her back in 1983.
Fingers crossed she will be staying with us for the next 50 years!!

That's wot I did with my first dub (The white bug that's sitting in the workshop )

You won't regret it & the sense of achievement is immense, especially when my bug got her MOT 1st time after 2 years of scraped knuckles, blood, sweat & tears

And as the others have said, you've always got us guys to fall back on for advice & encouragement!

A handy book to buy is the 'How to keep your Volkswager alive' by John Muir. Full of handy hints & tips ... wish I'd found it years before my mate bought it for me as I used to always ask him to read over the phone instructions from his copy!

Well we picked up Beryls engine from the unit yesterday. As you can see the bright red poster paint isn't really the look im after so we are going to give it a clean up, get the tinware powder coated (thinking of doing it brown) and pop on new HT leads Dizzy cap etc.

Brown is cool in the engine bay me thinks

I have brown tinware....its the new black dont you know

We chose brown cause eventually thats what we want to spray her (plus Gav can get that colour done at work for free)! We saw one at Dubfreeze with brown tinware and it looked spot on!

I want to get mine redone in the hammered effect grey......

still in one piece............... At the mo

We managed to get some snowflake lights at dubfreeze (just need to get some bulb holders etc for them) and as we arent going to be able to get the semaphores sorted straight away we got some indicators to mount on the back bumper.

I've rebuilt the N/S front door pillar..

Rebuilt the top of the N/S heater channel..

And rebuilt the inner..

And rebuilt the O/S front door pillar..



And the rear of the O/S floor..

And then ground and sanded back and a bit of matt black chucked on it..









And thats about it
