| Hey, to make this clear, obviously the Caddy isnt Aircooled, but im not a fan of driving my aircooled in the cold bitter winters with no roof so here is my Project 'The Whistler'. To start with, i bought it for a mere £100 from a guy in Shepton Mallet, it was 'a bit' rotten and needed a little bit of work. She has a 1.6 Diesel (non-turbo) engine producing 55 bhp so naturally this is being ditched in favour of a Turbo Diesel engine as i want to build a reliable, different, and cheap-to-run 'Torque SLAG'!!! | |

| I bought a pair of Turbo Diesel Engines at the weekend. One is a standard 1.9 TD with a KKK Turbo from a Passat. The other is now fitted with a Garrett T3 from an Escort RS, and so once ive fitted my Bleed Valve this week i should be able to reach a respectable ammount of pressure. Im not letting to much away just yet but theres some big plans for this engine. (Big power with big fuel economy!) Ive run out of batterys in my camera so cant post pics up yet. Will sort it later.! | |

| Most Mk1's ive worked with have all been pretty rotten! Thats why they are hard to come by... Maybe thats why VW decided to Galvanise the Mk2 Chassis?! Hopefully once all the rot has been cut out and new panels welded in, the Caddy should last a fair while! Still stacks more work to come! | |

| all the mk1 saloons always rot but just presumed that because the caddy overlapped into the mk2's production they would have done better rustproofin on the later ones:no: | |

| I assume that most Caddys are owned by builders or farmers so dont get looked after that much... ive got a few ideas of what i want my Caddy to look like when its done, maybe something like this... I want 8x13" wheels really but not sure they will fit over my new Porsche Brakes?! so may have to stick with 15" wheels, i must admit im not a fan of big wheels. I had 17" on my Mk2 for a while but i scrubbed like a bitch and handling wasnt all that great either. | |

| *-* CADDY IS NOW UP FOR SALE *-* Basically, i have been forced into another project Caddy (my dads given me his) and its going to be easier to finish my dads rather than mine! Most of the welding has been done properly by qualified welders, and engineers (me and my dad). The only bit of work to get it on the road is ... Rear arch welding Drivers Inner sill Respray (i have already bought White paint if you want it) Put back together MOT , TAX ...Job done! | |

| Jammo, u twat!! lol! Whens your van gonna b ready? It better b finished for RTTS?! only 5 months left!!!!!! Anyway, change of plan.... im keeping the Caddy and finishing it! The other Caddy i got is gonna b turned into a Bigfoot once this Caddy is finished. Started fabricating the rear arches (welded new ones on and widened by 1 inch to accommadate wider wheels eventually) Then we removed the Rear Beam Axle, cut off the old brake lines (they were rusted on), fabricated lowering blocks to space the Axle from the springs, re-mounted the relocating pins, and cleaned up all the underside and axle. Re-mounted the Axle above the Springs to lower the back approx 6 inches Fabricated new brake lines Lowered... (doesnt look that low in the pics, but trust me... its low! Next up, i started filling the sides, sills, and arches. | |
