A gut feeling mate, reckon it will look bodged.

It's says it's a dye, it has a picture that resembles leather on the can. The majority of the materials it refers to are pourus, as far as I know your dash isn't?

Best thing to do is try it on another piece of the same material the same area as your dash.

some of the vinyl sprays work really well, and we have garages use them on the dash quite a bit, if they get damaged.

the brown met camper special edition has a brown dash.

Kind of my line of thinking TBH...

I was gonna give this a try knowing full well I originally planned to get a new plain dashboard and paint it to match the bodywork...

So really it would be an experiment that might come out pukka, or I and up buying a new dash as originally planned...

can't really lose....

Joker gives me confidence it might not go horribly wrong....

It will work on modern vinyl and plastic dashboards. Doubt it will on the metal bay window ones. I colour coded mine and treated it the same as an exterior panel; prep' primer etc...

just so we are all on the same page... this is my dashboard as it is today... it's covered in vinyl, not bare metal as the early, early bays were.....

So is it vinyl clad where the stereo and heater controls are? Your pic isn't very clear.

Looks like it's moulded plastic to me rather than vinyl, is just the dash top vinyl?

If you are going to go with the spray then i'd buy yourself another glove box cover and have a go on anything you are going to do on that first before you remove the whole dash to do the whole thing.

Not a bad plan Mr Clockwork... I need to investgate my dashboard some more.. I thought it was vinyl stuck over a metal dashboard... I'll check later in the week...

The three screws on the A-Pillar suggest that it is perhaps a moulded plastic dash, not a vinyl covered metal dash.

OK... I'll take a look see....

Might even get a metal dash, colour code it to the exterior and have just the glove box lid, vents, dash top, padding and instrument panel in brown....

All depends what I find really...

They are metal with a black coating, I assume paint.
The joint peice is vinyl.

^^^what he said!

It splits into three parts: top dash inc the vent holes for the windows (cold and hot/cold in my case!) I bought a new one of these as mine had rot in the drivers side corner from under the window. I then sanded this back and painted it.

The vinyl/foam and metal strip... and the grab handle that comes apart from that (only fits in one way round)

Front dash: metal with a black paint over it: I sanded this back and painted it all.

For those who were at VoWo, you might remember I bought a fog lamp that was looking a bit rusty and pitted... I should have a taken a 'before' picture to show the difference, but I wasn't expecting the results of 10 mins with some Autosol to be so dramatic!

Here it is now with virtually no blemishes remaining at all...
