| Cheers peeps Nope I can't wait to get out and about in her - been so long since I drove a proper Bug! Just got to get a few issues sorted first. Dunno if I should complain to Heritage about the loom they sent me - it's obviously LHD despite me ordering RHD and them not listing any RHD ones.... but I've cut and extended it a few times, so I doubt they'd take it back Scoops - she's mine, all mine! Muhahahaha | |

| Done a bit of wiring today. It started off with the under bonnet looking like this: And ended up looking like this: Much neater! Altho no way near finished - but at least I can see where all the wires are going to now Then I set about the headlight loom. The loom which I was supplied with must be a LHD not a RHD loom - nothing fits in the right place! So rather than go through the annoyance at having to take it all out again, I've relocated the fuse box on the other side - ok, so it's not original, but hey - it works! I'd rather have a rewired car with the fuse box in the wrong place over an original car with an original tired loom any day - and her original one was particually shocking! Another problem I had with the loom was that the headlight wiring was no way near long enough. The wiring for the pass side didn't go all the way through the headlight tube on the wing so you couldn't connect anything, and the driver's side loom stopped short half way through the spare wheel well! Not much use unless I wanted to light up my headlight tubes and my spare wheel well. So what I did was change the pass and driver's side wiring over - so the pass side now reaches fine, then I ordered some new wires to make up the headlight wiring for the driver's side (plus a few extras): So I cut them to lengh (a bit long at the mo till I've got everything sorted - then I'll cut it down to the right size), and taped them up to give a mock loom so I knew roughly how long it would have to be to fit in all the right places. I couldn't find any grey wires of the correct size so I've got orange instead: So now she's almost there wiring wise. A few more connectors to connect to the right places, headlights to fit etc and much more tidying up to do, but I'm happy for now. | |
