PostSubject: Re: Project Postman Pat   Project Postman Pat - Page 7 EmptyFri Aug 05, 2011 7:09 am

Alright stranger! Cheers fella, yeah it stands out a bit with all the primer on it. Ive got it up for sale at the moment but am getting fed up of people just offering swaps or P/X's with terrible cars. If weather holds out then i will be painting the front end this weekend. Just seem to be struggling to find time to do anything lately.

Oh i forgot to say that the exhaust was so loud it was unbearable, so i ordered up a load of exhaust pipe and bends, and made myself a new exhaust system, with a Sierra cosworth 3.5" outrolled tailpipe. Sounds so much quieter and sounds lovely! Ive also been told that it spits flames quite well. Cool
Went for a late night drive last night to let off some steam after a hard day at work, took the van up cheddar gorge, up across the mendips, down burrington combe and then back home to clevedon. Was smiles all round, it handled very well, felt tight and pulled really well. And as it was so dark up on the mendips i could see red flashes in the rear window from the flames when i changed gear hard! Very Happy
Just wish my other half liked the van Crying or Very sad

Havent got a pic of the system, but heres a quick pic of the way the tailpipe looks. Very 90's Razz Laughing
(notice even the dog is hiding his head in shame!!)

The rear lights also a bit of treatment as i didnt like the orange indicators, (the others are clear) so i tinted them black. The lenses are rubbish anyway so i thought if i didnt like it i need to replace them anyway. Rolling Eyes

Had a lot of things going on at home recently (wedding in a few weeks, huuuge vets bills, etc) so thought i'd go for a late night drive somewhere to clear my head. Jumped in the caddy with a collection of fast beat tunes, Cool
Drove to cheddar, then a 'spirited' drive up the gorge, across the mendips, and down Burrington Combe, followed by a chilled and relaxed drive back to clevedon. On the whole journey across the mendips the only other vehicle in sight happened to be a bright yellow Convertable Porsche Boxster, and he had the roof down too. Razz He could obviously see i was coming up behind him at some pace, because when i got closer behind him and started to slow down, he dropped it a gear and flew off... It would'v been rude of me to not try my luck wouldnt it?! Wink I so so so so wish i could'v been a passenger in the Porsche just to hear the guys reactions when he realised the tatty red van behind him wasnt getting any further away. Laughing
Was well worth the £20 in fuel. tongue

Yeah i put the van up for sale as an 'unfinished project' as i cant justify spending over £200 a month on tax / insurance / fuel, when i only get to drive it on average 4 times a month! Crying or Very sad
And i really am sturggling for time to finish it off. It doesnt help that the other half hates it too. Sad

But i would actually love to finish it, or at least get it painted.
There is a lad that has set his heart on it, but im not sure what he is doing. Think he may end up being a time waster to be honest.

Heres some pics to show how much work is still to do on the bodywork... Rolling Eyes

Well, a lad from Falmouth came and looked at the caddy on sunday. Loved it and offered me the money. Came back on Monday to get it. He txt me when he arrived home saying how much he loved it, and was really impressed with how nicely it drove and the noise it made in 2nd and 3rd gear! lol

Pleased he really likes it. And cant wait to see what he does with it. Very Happy

Don't know if you'd be interested but might be selling the wifes car it's a nissan almera 2.0 gti. 150bhp and it weighs just over a tonne. Strut braces at the front and rear brilliant handling. Bit rusty on the wheel arches, 6 months mot and 6 months tax. Will know for definate if selling next week & will get pics up then & put it in the right section!
