finally got my engine back in!! yay - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: finally got my engine back in!! yay   finally got my engine back in!! yay - Page 2 EmptyThu Mar 15, 2007 9:24 pm

for weeks before i took my engine out and changed the carb, my car kept jerking alot and kept breking down all together, i thought with the amount of new parts i was gunna fit, the problem would be sorted, but with my new parts fitted and all timing done ect.. still wouldn't let me go over 45mph with out me needing to pull over due to the engine dieing. I was drivin it for a few days like this untill i found a fuel filter under my fuel tank that looked like a factory fitted original which had nver been changed, changed it and the car drives like a dream and able to do 80+, just shows how a little thing like a fuel filter can bugger ya car up so much, for so long!! ...i feel like i just wrote a book Laughing

sorry just needed to get this off my chest! bloody filter!

you do get the same or slightly better fuel economy with twin carbs as you do with a single carb.

i dont think i agree with moup about shorter manifolds meaning that the engine produces less torque though i will have to look into that. Suspect

I might be wrong, I normally am Rolling Eyes but I could have sworn I heard that the shorter the manifolds the revier the engine, the longer the manifolds the torquier the engine, but then again, you are listening to a guy who engine leaks like a sieve! No

think Harv is basically right in principle.........thats why modern manufacturers use variable length inlet tract systems but doesnt work in the case of a dub cos short manifolds= twin carbs! Exclamation

Also could you ask your thermodynamic lecturer guy why hot stuff stays hot and the cold stuff stays cold and my thermos never gets the two mixed up, is it just luck or what?? lol!

the result are it would make much if any difference to troque but would do the power produced. Doubling the ait intake for 34mm to 2x34mm will let the engine breath better. the advantage comes where each cylinder is sucking fuel at different time creating a pulse effect in the manafold. but giving each bank of cylinders it's own carb reduces this (totally in twin choke carbs). this means that the fuel mix hich will get to the ideal stoichiometric ratio.

so in essents as crewkid said better bang for your buck with out reducing MPG
