OK, I thought it was about time I started the bob thread, as you probably know bob is temporarily off the road while ewaiting on an MOT, Tax and a new motor, I have stripped the 1641 I got off of ebay and and un redifyed it ( I have a red crankcase phobia you know Rolling Eyes ) I had new main bearings and camshaft bearings turn up today, new sump plate, new gaskets and a new exhaust system, so as soon as my black VHT paint turns up I can give the cases the once over before starting to put it back together.

I am off tomorrow as bob is going in to fail his MOT ( no front indicator - suprise! Rolling Eyes and two rotten out front pipes, just so I can find out what else is wrong and get it on order so I can do it all in one go.

I shall add some engine in pieces pictures for you tomorrow afro

OK bob failed his MOT (suprise, suprise Rolling Eyes ) There was nothing really major although there are two sheets of problems affraid Mind you, nearly all of the first page relates to the indicators No The rest was just the exhaust and all the anti roll bushes and rear shocks so I popped an order into SSP so should be here soon. afro

OK painted the other half of the crankcases today, plus a few other goodies turned up from SSP, unfortunately nothing that gets bob through an MOT though Rolling Eyes Just some shiney bits and pieces plus some bushes for the gearbox when I get round to doing it! Suspect

If you're stuck for a valve spring compressor I've got you can borrow. Used it on aircooled heads no problem.

Whatever you do, don't dremmel the shite out your ports lol!

Go here...

http://www.cal-look.com/

to the technical section and there's some basics on headporting. Or failing that I could photocopy some pages from 'How to hotrod your VW engine' which again covers the basics (if you don't have access to a copy).
