| Firstly, a massive thanks to Griff and his bro for collecting it and dropping it off for me whilst i was in hospital, i was doing my best to escape but the docs were having none of it! And big thanks to Carl who actually spotted it in the first place. Top work fella's, i owe you. Anyway, its an '82 mexican 1200 beetle, with a new 1600 engine in (only done 3k), she's a bit scabby round the edges but has a certain charm about her Lowered onto Empi 8's, naff towel rail bumpers and smoked lenses etc, but shouldn't take too much to get her back on the straight and narrow... Spare wheel well looks like a sieve and there's a couple of other scabs (nothing structural from what i've seen) and it needs an alternator and bloody good service, apart from the obvious MOT items it seems ok for the money - £400!! More updates as and when i can get a few pics and have the time (and energy) to do some work to her - The '66 is looking sorry for herself and i get a guilt trip every time i go to the workshop...... So, from 1 project to 2 ...... Shit or bust!! literally!!!

| Few more pics and a quick update.. Firstly, she runs! Bought a new battery and she fired straight up, throttle cable is sticking a bit and the exhaust was blowing like a pig, but both should be sorted today, along with cutting out the mank spare wheel well and welding in a patch... Full service and changing those f'ugly smoked lenses for originals and then we'll see what Mr MOT man says.. | |
