Mr scoops

I had the staples out this morning. 15 were okay but the last 3 were a lit sore coming out.
Then I had physio for 1 hour this afternoon. They said my recovery is going really well, I can bend my knee (assisted) to almost 90 degrees and the swelling in going down.
I have been given a sheet of excercies to do.
Unfortunately due to the severity of the surgery I needed it seems that I am only allowed passive movement (ie assisted by my other leg or lifting it with my hands) for another 4 weeks.
I am just gonna do what I am told though as the physio said there is no reason why it shouldn't be as good as new once the rehab is over.

Hmmmm, I might move this to the resto forum!!!

I had my first follow up appointment with the surgeon today. He said they are really pleased and hopeful that my knee op will turn out to be a success.
It is early days yet though and he said we need to wait until the New Year when I back on my feet and see how it pans out. If it doesn't hold up he has said they will have me back in and replace the inner half of my knee joint with a metal one!
He also let me have 13 photos that were taken during the operation!!! A guy at work almost fainted this afternoon looking at them!!!
It turns out that I had a 40mm x 20mm x 6mm deep hole in the bottom of my thigh bone!! They grafted in some cow bone (Moooooo!!!) and then did the other bits and bobs.
I have just got to be a good boy and do exactly what I am told regarding my rehab. Next lot of physio is Friday afternoon......

Seems to be going good at the mo then dude lets hope it's a right gert proper success... Cow boy... You gonna post the pics up or not??

Second lot of physio today, aching now but progress is being made.
The swelling is going down slowly and you can make out the shape of my knee cap, at long last.

I have been to physio a few times and they are pleased with the progress.
Under 2 weeks now to go now and I can get back on the road to walking.
Hurrah, I am hoping that I am going to be able to walk without a stick by the end of Feb......

To be honest I was getting a bit fed up over the weekend but it seems that there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel.

That's really good news dude .........talking of light at the end of the tunnel and feeling better.............does anyone know if andy ham is O.K .....I thought he was in for more treatment but haven't heard too much from him .....hope he's recovering too that would be well

Andy got back yesterday, i'll let him tell you how things went but theres now a light at the end of the tunnel for him.....

Really hacked off tonight. What a crap day I have had.
I went to the physio today ready to ditch that frigging splint. He told me that the surgeon is on leave this week and he had been unable to contact him, therefore he was not going to allow me to start putting weight on my leg.
I have now got wait until Jan 3rd at the earliest before they assess my knee to see if they are happy for me to start walking again.
I was hoping to be kind of on my feet or at least able to help a bit around the place.

On top of that the bloody automatic French piece of crap I have been lent has started to cut out whenever it bloody feels like it so I am going to lose a days wages tomorrow. My father in law is going to try and fix the turd but if he can't I am going to hire a bloody car so I can go in on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Yet another justification not to buy French cars.

I am absolutely gutted to be honest but that's the way it goes. Another 2 weeks for the bone graft to take can only help make it stronger still...........I'm still grumpy though.

I agree mate, you are right, but what with the bloody car playing up and going to the pub for an hour or two to meet my mates who I used to work with and couldn't have a beer.

Anyway, I had an appointment today with the consultant and the physio and they said at long last I can be full weight bearing on the knee!!
That means no splint, no crutches and that I can get back to driving Dubs!! I jumped straight in the Polo and drove that to work, then tonight I was able to drive my latest purchase, the T25 Double Cab.
It is earlydays and I have got to take things real steady but it feels really good to be slowly getting back to normal.
They told me the swelling is going down the best of all of the people who have had the op and I have got a really good range of movement.
I am so chuffed!! I ahave just got to get the cream cakes in at work to say thanks to the guys around me for skivvying for me for the last 8 weeks!!

Latest update. I went to physio on Friday and also had to have an assesment so they could compare the results on my knee from the op to compare with others. The good news is that I am having virtually no grief or pain whatsoever, BUT, due to the muscle wastage in my quads on my left leg the small tendons wrapping round the inside of the knee connnecting the upper and lower parts of the knee are swollen and VERY VERY painful. All this hassle and I am feeling kippered with tendonitis!!
Been on the Ibuprofen and 3 lots of frozen peas on there today.
Rich and Frizz made a special trip up from Bridgey today to bring me a weights bench so I can start building up those quads again. Cheers mate.
