bout time for knee restoration update me thinks ....but please no pic's

Wahey, I'm back!!!
Got out of hospital yesterday afternoon and then slept most of the afternoon at home.
Things didn't go quite to plan unfortunately.
I got in there at 8:00 on Friday morning and they were already waiting for me. By 08:40 I was walked down to theatre and was chatting away to the dude dishing out the anesthetic
The surgeon got in there and found that the inside of my knee was even more kippered than they thought and it took 4 hours of surgery for them to get it to the state they wanted!!
I think they had to top me up with the anesthetic too as I was in recovery for 3 hours.
I woke up feeling I had been hit by a bloody bus!!!
I had needed nerve blockers injected into my groin during the op and the torniquet had to be let off and then re-applied so my foot didn't die!!!
When I was up on the ward we found out that morphine has no affect on me. I have never know pain like it!!!
I am not allowed to put any weight on my leg for 6 weeks and for the next 2 weeks must only move my leg 'passively' ie with the splint on or by lifting it with my hands!!
I have got to get the wound checked and dressed on Friday and then next week go to the nurse at the doctors for the dozen or so staples to be removed from the wound!!
Things will pan out ok I am sure and one of the surgeons said if I follow the rehab they want me to do it should be good for 10 years, by then the knee replacements available should be a lot more hardy.

Had a proper shower this morning and had to change the dressing so managed to have a look at my knee for the first time. Emma wouldn't come and look so I couldn't get any pics!
I counted my staples though and have 17 of those little puppies in there.
I reckon it is going to leave me a right 'manly' scar!!!
Hoping to go back to work tomorrow and Friday morning........as Ems is off this week if I get too tired I can call her and she can always come and pick me up early.

Aah so no wonder you sounded so knackered last nite when I called you bud!

I thought you' have been out the same day like I was for my knee op, but now I hear how much they had to do to it .. no wonder you were in for so long!

I can only get it back to about 60 degrees.............I won't be getting it back to 90 degrees and beyond until I start physio.

iv got poorly knees too, well its the whole of my legs, nothing they can do tho..


my other half used to be a nurse if u wanna borrow him as ur personal nurse/servent! haha!

well at least u can be as lazy as you like without being shouted at! nwat a bonus!!!!!

Going to the nurse at the GP's tomorrow to get the old 'incision' checked. The swelling seems to be going down too and I went all day without having to wear the splint today.

I have decided to try and read up about the results of this procedure online.
Apparently it has only been available anywhere in the world since January this year and it has come to sunny Weston and I have had it done!!

Something else I foudn amazing though, the guys who had surgery after me (with the same surgeon) had a partial knee replacement, 1 side was replaced as it is really 2 joints like a knuckle and he was walking with full wait and just a stick to help on the Sunday!!!!!!!!! I couldn't even get out of bed until then and then it was only with a zimmer frame! (That's not a joke, I really did have to use a zimmer!!).

Crikey, thats a miracle, .... whats your excuse the- get up and of you arse!! Joke, joke! God, I really hope it all works out for ya bud, just think how coll it would be to walk proper and get running again.
