| Actually got some stuff happening on the bug.. Went for a MOT monday and failed was actually happy? Failed on, rear number plate bulb gone, no front number plate and incorrect nuber plate on the rear (had 1 rear american plate only ) got it retested wednesday and passed.. No welding from new as yet... still very solid under neith Its now dropping more oil than it uses in petrol, so gotta whip out the motor and sort a couple of seals. Also got a good gear box from a mte, gave it a stip down, wash and repaint, Bought a load of gear box seals, new polyurathane bushes, and mounts ready for the weekend when it get dropped in. | |

| Got the bug up to a mates garage and made full use of his workshop Got the oil covered motor out and gave it a good clean, got the old 1200 6v box out, dropped in the donor 12v 1300 box, so will still keep its acceleration, still gonna keep my eyes out for a 1600 but no rush Got the new box all painted up before hand, as it was from a later bug had to change the shafts (which is a total arse) and a few other bits as there was some stuff that needed swapping to make it mint Put on new brake hoses, new hub seals, new hand brake cable sleeve, new fuel lines, new gear box polyurathane mounts, new gear linkages, new engine seal, new external oil filter, dropped all the fluids and replaced with new, and many other new bits to make sure i aint gonna be messing about wih it again soon. Any ways, in a nut shell, all the drive train is now refurbed and is as new so should make for a much nicer and less oil dripping ride Got to finish putting on the twin carbs, wireing it up, and a few other little bits but it should be done by monday night. My fav shot of all of them is the one that shows how truly solid the bug is, still not a spot of rust underneith anywhere Just got to put on the twin carbs, exhaust, wire it all up, put on the fial bits n pieces then shes done.... | |

| Ripped the motor apart nearly a year ago (just after CTTP) but thought id better get it out the garage and put back together again.. Full flow oil system, CB performance set up, with external oil filter and extra oil cooler Also gave it a little tap with the slamming stick whilst it was there Got 1 1/2" clearance on the front end and 2" from the sump and merged headers Rubs a bit on speed bumps, kerbs ect but not too bad until you got a car full, then it hits cateyes on the motorway, and front wheels are rubbing on the headlight bowls, so aint going any lower! Also got hold of some seagrass matting, and knocked up a set of fitted mats Looks good next to the van | |
