67' Super mint OG ozzy bug

Went down Flexihose in newton abbot today, got some braided hose made up.. Got a bargin £20 cash... IDEAL!
Should be all done tomorrow night so back on the road redy for the weekend..

Well, its all done and sat on the drive... BUT ive got a huge issue.
I live in a area that looks like speed bump city.. NOT GOOD!
And as it now sits about 2 inches lower than before, it bloody hits them its seriously whacking the bottom of the spare wheel well.
The wife aint drove it yet, as its still got to have its tracking done, as its narrowed by 2" (for now) but its her car and she aint gonna use it as her daily unless its sorted...
So i hate to say it and it will be a first for me.....

I gotta r.i.e it up a bit (see can even bring myself to type it)

But the problem ive got is..
I cant do it on the beam, as its up as high as it will go as i welded in the adjusters to make a super slam beam, so gotta look down the path of Air shocks, or coil overs
Anyone tryed to raise anything by doing this?

Been busy again this weekend,
Took the bug out to work in the snow, so i could do the engine swap that ive been trying to get round to sorting for about a year

Before it came out i had to have a little bit of fun as it was rude not too









Back to buisness..

Took out the old 1600 motor, Cleaned the engine bay up, took out all the old sound proofing as it was hanging down and getting sucked in to the carbs, and didnt ant that happening in the 1914cc motor
And she aint rusty in there either


Got all the oil and crap off the deck lid too


Added some bling on the deck lid:

Bit more done today.
Went for a sunday for a bit of a cruise about only to find i had a clutch issue

So i needed to take the motor out,
Woke up at 3am and thought, i will go to my workshop and do it before work

So i did (bloody idiot)
Got the motor out again to find it had sheared off one of the bolts on the flywheel, so drilled it out, fixed it and put the motor back in,
Also cleaned off the backbox i got and put it on, the motor has been ported out to match the exhaust so best be on there before it gets properly tuned..

As its so bloody loud i sound proofed the firewall, with a material the same as dyna mat, but half the price Works a treat, makes a hell of a difference..


Got it running, but its running a bit crap but heres a little video of it running

Where did you get the sound proofing from dude ...and whats it called?

Is that an A1 Muffler?? I had one on my cab, they do sound bloody lovely!!! Carl used to get a lob on if it booted it!!!

Its Flashband insulation dude, works as well as dyna mat, and its only £15 for 10 meters x 8 inches

The exhaust is from the states, proper good un, stainless fully merged header, that are sized matched to the ports, get a engle cam and a few other extras in there, thats why its sounds like a fart on the vid, its real loud, and got plenty of go in her

Getting it tuned up tomorrow so it will be rocking round the roads in the night, taking on a fw chav's :LOL:

Can get in wide strips too.
Easy to use, cut it roughly to size, peel off the backing and put it where ever you want it to go, trim it up a bit, then run a hot air gun over it all to make it really stick well

Quick update.
I managed to get my Load lifting / adjustable air shocks bolted on now, so i can now just pump up and drop the suspension in a few min's with a little 12v air compressor.
Now looking to do the same on the rear end, so ca go low or sensible ride height

Also at plymouth, saw a nice pair of swan neck albert mirrors up for grabs, so with the little cash i had, got them and in true VW style, fitted them in the field..

Are they OG Alberts or Repros and how much did you pay for them if you dont mind me asking...
