hey mate.. they sound loverly! (when you block out the exhaust!)

SCAT SHIFTER = no gears... all of a sudden..?!

weird, can't get any gears at the mo. popped original sloppy shifter back on for a bit till I have so patience!

so ... was so pissed with the shifter I ended up just bolting it down in 1st and driving it back into the garage...

will get some pics up tomoz nite after a play about.

gear shift pics... isn't that some form of vw porn? lol!

Van all sorted at last... i hope!

first problem, was the distributer cap not on right, and timing out/mixture etc.

booked into Interpro at Thornbury to get rolling roaded on Friday.

2nd problem: battery got drained in under 6hrs when engine off (and no lights left on before you ask!)

2 batteries later and all the wiring checked etc..

Turns out to be a wire plugged into the regulator that shouldn't of been, causing a permanent drain on the batt. This screwed up the charge circuit big time!

So now happy and back on the road!

Dropped off van at Interpro after work tonight.
They seem sound and know there stuff.
Will await the results tomoz and prepare myself for the blow to the wallet!

Serious bad luck really............

never got as far as the dyno. Crying or Very sad

bloody pain in the arse empi carb (number 4 cylinder)- mixture screw fits inside a brass thread thingy into the side of the carb is turning on it's self.
This means no adjustment at all to the air/fuel mixture.
There is a tab missing that holds it in place/not been drilled correctly. Evil or Very Mad

so, VW Heritage/SSP are collecting the faulty carb on Monday, and should have new replacement sent back by Wednesday.

This faulty carb was running very lean, and was over heating number 4; as a result the valves had closed up loads and compression was down to 50psi.

David at Interpro has checked out head etc and adjusted valves and now it is back up to 140psi. All others are at 150psi at the mo.

Lucky I got it there really and hadn't really driven her much. (or pushed the revs etc)

So it will hopefully be sorted and on the dyno/rolling road sometime at the end of the week.

sorry no pics, was at work all Friday, but Interpro took some of the carb fault. will see if I can get them this week.

So that's the 3 problems with the van sorted: engine leek, battery dead and now carb crap! lol!

EMPI HPMX twin 40's

under guarantee though. (apart from the manifolds which I had to drill for brake servo...)

we shall see what happens next week.

kinda wished I had bought the webbers, but funds don't stretch that far..

EMPI but some reason i still want them lol, so has it caused any perminant damage to the engine, and did this just happen while you were driving the bus or has it been like that all along without you knowing with regard to the misxture screw,
