71 Stocker.......

Bought myself 1971 stock 1300 Beetle this morning........needs a real good clean and finishing off really.







First job was to wash all the dust off of it that had built up in the 3 years that it had been SORN'ed.

As you can see the bumpers are only fit for the skip, and the side trim needs refitting along with the carpets and some little bits and bobs.
I am going to try and get it sorted and then MOT'ed for the classic car show on Easter Sunday.









Might drop the engine out to give everything a proper clean and polish.








Under the bonnet just needs a bit of tidying and detailing.










Might give the floor a coat of paint before putting the carpet and plastic matting in.

Got to refit some bits of trim.




Headlining need a good scrub too.........

i cant wait till i have kids to train them to wash the cars so i dont have to do it

One thing I have decided that bugs me is that the window seals are cal-look, ie trimless. Anyone know if that is right or have they been fitted instead of the seals with trim when all the windows went back in??

Cheers dude. William loved it, he has been taught how to clean the cars from early on. Normally he just has to do his Smoby but today he was allowed to progress on the next stage of his 'apprenticeship'!!

Not sure if the rubbers are correct or not dude, don't think i've seen stockers with them TBH........ Cal look rubbers are a hell of alot cheaper so alot of peeps cut corners and fit them...

Hmmm, might replace them. Not sure yet....

It should have trim cos it's a 1300, not a 1200. 1200 had blades, no trim in the windows and smaller headliner.

My 71 was stock (except for subtle adjustable beam.... and added expanding foam):

fair shout mate, looks clean and solid

it looks good in the flesh....nice and solid....nice and clean

A woman insuring with her partner as a named driver is always cheaper. Might pay me to go for fleet insurance!!

I know of a very similar car in similar condition so we might have matchin motors soon;)

What I said, it is one of the tidiest 70's bugs I have seen. Need to get some paint on those new channels and fit up the trim and carpet etc.
VERY tempted to keep this one!!
