| awesome Lifo.....i'll buy you a beer for that.....Moup this is how a proper 71 should look right then i'm having a mare transfering the pics on my phone to my pc i'll have another go in the morning.... Basically we did some messing around with the bug....stuck a charged battery in there and all the electrics work fine....starter motor was in bits so i swiped the starter motor off the 64....got the engine to turn over but nowt else....put some fresh fuel in tank....and noticed a fuel leak in the engine bay so i'm fixing that tommorow.... I think we have a problem with the ignition so off to GSF to buy rotor arm/points/condenser/cap/spark plugs....going to stick a new blue coil as I have one spare and i'll probably change the HT leads But the most important thing was taken care of first and that was the front end which Eddie and myself slapped with the lowring stick this afternoon....she may be rotten but she now has a great nose down stance more updates soon.... ps sid....how do i move this thread to rstorations???

| Spent some time on the 71 today managed to get the old exhaust off which was really nothing more than dust 2 carrier bags full in fact......it was a real bitch to get off the nuts were stuck fast but after 2 bloody hours off it came....went out and bought some bits for the ignition and stumped up some cash for a new kadron style exhaust because I think it deserved it....got that on and also swapped the coil over....hoping to get the other ignition bits and pieces sorted early next week....started having a good look over the car as a whole and to be honest its ROTTEN with a capital R the rear valance is nothing more than filler....i'll post some pics up next week | |

| Spence, you beat me to it asking that question. I noticed those beams on VZi.......I don't want to end up going down the resto-cal route but I was thinking about a subtlely narrowed beam and some dropped spindles for the Kab......... I reckon 5" is a little too resto and not quite Old Skool Cal Look though, waddya reckon?? | |

| a 5" beam for your car would not be necessary...if i were you I would go either a 2" or a 3" for your car to remain 'Cal Look' it would give it a nice tuck...i'm only going 5" because my offsets on the empi's are huge and have to run spacers....i'm nearly there with my beam only need to sort a few bits and bobs....I looked at that one on Vzi....but to be honest i'd still have to do the same amount of twatting around to fit that beam as I would to finish mine
got to shorten the leaves/shorten the track rods/sort a rose joint for the shocks/get some mini rear shocks.......i'd basically have to do all of the above with that beam on Vzi
keep an eye out on Vzi scoops as i have seen a few beam that were 2" for sale recently...also keep your eyes peeled on restowagen | |
