PostSubject: Re: DOBBY the bug   DOBBY the bug - Page 2 EmptyWed Jun 06, 2007 9:55 pm

well i've fitted another carb today (thanks Nomates for the carb) but it hasn't made any difference .it will tick over fine and rev up fine but under load its got no guts and just dies .i.ve cleaned the plugs, replaced the leads, checked the timing, rotor arm,cap and i've set the points
Has anyone got any idea what the problem could be? or is anyone able to come and have a look tomorrow evening .the car is in Pawlett

Right then i've set the valve clearances tonight ,also replaced the fuel filter and checked the wiring. So i'm going to do a compression test next if that doesnt come up with anything, i'm going to start looking for another engine unless anyone has any ideas on how to sort the problem with my 1300 .

Sounds a bit like an air leak somewhere to me, if it only dies under load it is almost like it the manifold is leaking, well, it could be worth a look anyway afro

Failing that a common part that fails under load is the coil, borrow someone elses just to eliminate that Cool
