| I'll Try and get 9 pages, and the only thing done so far is cleaned the case! When i picked it up from Steve Bit manky but fairly tidy After the first wash in the tank. high pressure chemical sprayed at 85 degrees! After being vapour blasted, back to the tank again for a rinse, that vapour blasting fucking hurts your arms! Finally back in the van for delivery to the chubby birthday boy! And yes, I know i missed a bit! | |

| Right ,some progress has now been made , all the studs have been removed from the case ,and replaced with helicoils ,this will make removing the fan for instance a 2 minuet job rather than a few hours (well with twin carbs it will ,which is what i'm gonna be running) ....the oil galleries have all been drilled and tapped ntp and plugged off ,so a good cleaning of the oil ways can now begin , and the crank ,clutch ,flywheel and bottom pulley have been sent off for balancing ,and the rods weighed end to end ..... One major draw back with the crank is that the face where the flywheel bolts to unfortunately runs out by 2-3 thou .....this means all 8 dowels will need removing the face machiened true again and new dowels fitted ......about 4hrs work ,which is about £200 extra OUCH ....but if its gonna get built ,it gonna be done well .....I can't buy a new crank as the bearings have been bought for this one and they were over £200 so I'm going to stick with what I have ,to be honest I'm so glad they spotted it as it shows they are doing a great job !! because of this it won't be ready for a christmas build gutted | |

| crank finally came back from balancing ....rods weighed end to end ....and new small end bushes fitted and honed .... tonight I fitted the no 3 bearing ,cam timing gear...race spacer ,distributor drive and the cir clip ...first I heated them up in oil ,then fitted them ......so it has BEGUN .....LOL at first I was worried that the bid end bearing on no3 ....didn't fit properly ....as the hole to allow the oil to go through wasn't in line .....I phoned big al ,and he didn't know either ......however I think I work it out by myself .....as the oil ways in the crank are drilled at an angle ,the hole is better off being slightly out ....if that makes sense | |

| Don't think 'her indoors' would like me doing that in the kitchen.
Although I did the crank/bearing and gears job in the kitchen to a flat I had in the 1980's, up in Manchester. We weren't together then. | |
