| I'm thinking about sanding it back. A large DBS script decal and some clear coat.
I now have the fuel gauge working so I need to buy myself some needle files to get the square hole in the n/s front wheel centre cap so I have a speedo again.

| It seems that the 'tweak' of the steering box didn't do the trick. It's really intermittent but the problem is still there. Sometimes when steering right the wheel simply won't turn, then it seems to go mega stiff and will turn again. Simply can't risk driving it like this so I think the steering box require swapping out. Bugger. Wondering if it's easier to do it in situ or if it's easier to drops the beam off and do it on the drive. Any thoughts? On a positive note we did have a nice afternoon down at Apex on Saturday and had a picnic watching the end of the Olympic men's road race! | |

| So, I actually got the axle stands and blocks out and got Superdry up in the air. Had a good look with the weight of the bus on the front wheels. No bolts are near anything, couldn't see any chaffing marks etc
I'm thinking this rules out anything other than the steering box. Can't do that job today as the In-laws are coming down for a roast.
I have however hunted out the spare steering box I have and the drag link arm remover that I've borrowed from some on Early Bay.
Going to see if I can crack on with it next Sunday.
Pissed off with not being able to drive it now.

| I have got the tool to get the arm off the bottom of the steering box.
Even with pullers they are meant to be a bit of a bastard.
This tool is a home brew from a section of acro-prop!
I'm getting the stereo fitted to the T5 on Friday, doing some decking at Mothers on Saturday so hoping to get this job done on Sunday.

| So, after much advise seeking, and also a considerable amount of garage tidying I got the old girl up on axle stands again I popped the front wheels off and after a good poke round think (I'm 99.87% sure I'm right) I found the problem. At the outer end of the track rod is a small pinch clamp. Held in place by a nut and bolt. When I had the tracking done a small adjustment had been made and this had led the bolting flange and the nut/bolt to being moved to the top. This had then led to the clamp/bolt head fouling with the chassis notch. I'm going to replace the nut/bolt with stainless items. Such was my cheeriness I decided I needed to treat myself to a new CSP shifter. | |

| You did Dude, I'd just convinced myself it was something more serious.
So, the FiL is going to get me a new battery as the one in there is goosed, so, I plan to do an oil change next week and then I really want to get the 'air cooled buzz' again.....

| So SD is back on Terra Firma and able to steer again (fingers crossed) I got the shifter fitted too, but have got to whip it back out to pack the front joint with grease once I've ordered a new grease gun. Just needs a good hoovering in there now! Roll on next weekend. | |

If I want to go lower I need to get it tubbed, plus get air or fluid fitted as I won't be able to get in/out of my drive.
