I have got to admit Dave, I am really jealous of your manufacturing abilities

This will be the last bolt on part I make before I get into chopping things about! I want a custom dash and wanna remove the speedo, so I needed something to house it in under the dash!


I start with some 2mm sheet aluminium



Stick it through the english wheel a bit



Till it's a nice half bullet shape



Then do a second to match




Then weld em together



Clean it up a bit


Need a trim ring to go on the front! Started with 40mm X10mm flat. Stuck it through the rollers till it was round, then welded it. Then stuck in the lathe


Put it together






Now we need somewhere to mount the fuel gauge.












It'll be mounted in the middle of the dash after it gets a good polish, but you get the idea!

I've never been to college! I learn't the basics from the old blokes I worked with when I started. Then over the years I've just kept pushing myself to the next level! What I do for a living aint anythin like as creative as what I like to do!

Quality i can weld but nothing like you can do well done dude keep it coming

Rach hated it!!! she thinks the speedo should be in the dash. I kind of agree with her, but thought it'd look cool enough in the ali pod to pull it off!

I really think that someone with your talent deserves a huge pat on the back.... you should think about making bespoke one offs for people mate, you'd make a killing. That speedo mount is a work of art!

That was me you saw earlier bye the way. I saw you pull out by the merc garage and i played my horns but i dont think you heard. I thought you were gonna blitz it off, but luckily you spotted me. Wheres the rear apron buddy, Im loving the bug though. The gears tick was pretty crazy awell!

That was flat out!!!
I cut the apron off a couple of weeks ago to pull the engine out! Bolt on is the way to go! .... I just gotta get round to bolting it back on!

I gotta say your bug looked real sweet in the rear view morror! I now really fancy a later bug!
