I can sell off some of the stuff it comes with as it's a turnkey and also I have a lot here I can sell so I can recoup some $

Bollocks. Engine sale fell through.

The fella said he thinks he may have an oil pressure issue and wasn't happy to sell it knowing this.

Fair play, at least he was honest, but I am gutted.

Just put £400 deposit on a new build 1776.
Should be ready for next weekend.

Need to strip my IDF's now to get the jetting in the right ballpark.

I can also then clean up and sell the stuff I stripped off the 1641, heads, rockers, pistons & barrels etc

1776 is finished and paid for and will be couriered via a pallet next week.

1776cc Reground crank and all new bearings etc.
110 cam and new lifters, drilled for full flow oil system
Heads have been vapour blasted and the valves lapped back in

Going to run electronic ign dizzy, twin IDFs and the VS exhaust
Got a Scat Serpentine system to go on there too.

Can't wait to get it back and built up from long block.

It's a fella up Doncaster way how has also built engines for other well known owners.

1776 longblock engine arrived today.





Also a new oil cooler and case adaptor arrived too. I've got the old oil cooler but was advised that it was best to fit a new one.

Bailand Dave kindly popped round earlier to give me a hand to get the new engine on the stand.
I had a spare ten minutes so wanted to have a look at what it may look like so had a little mock up.




Going to set to it and get it fully built up and ready for [squeaky bum time]cam break in[/squeaky bum time]

Made a proper start earlier on the tinware fitting.
I think it got a bit bumped around when it went off to be powder coated. A little more fettling is required.

I"m trying to get back in touch with the fella who built the 1776 as I'm simply not happy with it.
Shagged exhaust studs that are snapping when they come off, not enough thread penetration on the head nuts, blue sealant all over the place and the heads don't look square on the barrels to me.

Gives me no confidence so it's going back for a refund......back on the hunt for an engine.

Have you tried the Ads in the back of the mags for BIG (1776cc?) built long block motors?

Suppose it's all about how much you want to spend.

Such a pisser mate, you should have stuck to the original plan and built your own, it may have taken a bit longer, but you would have known everything was done properly.

And I would have done had the case I was going to use hadn't been made of Edam!

And we're back to that plan. I'm taking the 1776 back tomorrow for a full refund and will be placing a big assed order with Heritage and Cool Air and I am going to embark on building, with able assistance and guidance from Dr Nomates the Engine God, a fully balanced and mildly tweaked 1584.
