| I had a stinger on my old baja, I had to put a warning sticker near it as it was at head height. So I made one up along the lines of 'if you're stupid enough to touch a hot exhaust expect to get hurt'. Oh, and had to put a baffle in it too. | |

| How will I get on when I come to MOT the Cab?? As I don't run any bumpers my exhaust sticks out past the bodywork. Is that an MOT fail? | |

i dont care about legality when it comes to cars but i do know that the noise laws were introduced in 1975 and that if the car was built before that then the law doesnt count so you can run whatever exhaust you like scoops your car shouldnt fail because the exhaust sticks out but the police can tell you to put a heatshield on it.

| IIRC the noise regs are part of Construction and Use or whatever it`s called these days, which is what Plod can pull you for. My old Mini was 1990 and the exhaust on that was clocked at 98db (as per Castle Combe noise check ) and that passed the MoT with no probs. |

| I know the MOT tester pretty well, (I married his daughter!!! ), I was just wondering as he said he wasn't sure. I might just buy a roll of exhaust wrap and fit it once a year for the MOT, oh yeah, and fit the front number plate!! | |

| Nope!! But I have got the front number plate in the front footwell, smashed to buggery with thise little clamps on to attach it to the bottom lip of a bumper. I would just say it was clipped under the front valance and I knocked it off. In fairness it only comes out a couple of times a month at the moment...... | |

I might just buy a roll of exhaust wrap and fit it once a year for the MOT, oh yeah, and fit the front number plate!! dude exhaust wrap will ,given a little heat bake itself to the exhaust,if you do use it ...it ain't coming off if you get it too hot!

I wouldn't bother, just stick it in and see what happens, there is no point making a heatshield if it is going to pass dude! Chill out Winston |
