Here's my little helper.dont ask me why but the daughter decided to call her treakle [i mg] First job was to decide where to start.i chose the rear end cut out a bit of rot. [/i mg] Then have a go at fabricating some new metal. [im g] [/i mg] [im g] Then tidy it all up a bit. [/i mg] Had to make a piece for the gutter as there wasnt much left. [i mg] Not fantastic.but it should do. [/im g]

Otherside [im g] The welds where so rusty it pinged of when i hit it with a hammer. So first cut out the grot. [/im g] Mark up some new shiney metal. [im g] Weld it in as best i can. [/ img] [im g] Had to do some metal bending.to make about a foot long bit for the gutter.including the slight angled bit. [/i mg] [i mg] All stuck in... [/i mg] And cleaned up a bit. [i mg]

Despoted the funny panel(dont know what its called)near the rear wheel. [im g] As it had loads of scank all over it. [/im g] And lots of old repairs.over the years.and i want it to look a bit better if i can. First had to make the lip that runs underneath the panel [i mg] [/i mg] This is the panel after i cut and welded all the rot out. [im g] Still eeds a little straightening to finish it right. Decided not to patch this up.but start with fresh metal. [/i mg] Found a wee bit more. [im g] Had a go with my baby vice at fabing up a piece to fit. [/im g] [i mg] [/im g] And stuck it in. [i mg]

Refitted this panel after making up the inner floor/boot bit. [i mg] Just needs cleaning up a bit. [/i mg] This is the inner bit.not too bad now. Then the usual bits. [i mg] now looks a bit better. Not bad for G S F. and loads of fettling. [/i mg] Made up the rear cross member sections as best i could. had nothing here to coppy from so a fair bit of guess work and regigging was needed.hence a couple of pics will see patches here and there over the resto.to try to work out the shape of the bits that are rotted . [i mg] Had to cut of the lip of the knackered old rear valence.soto sqeeze in the bumper mount i got of flee bay. before. [/i mg] after [im g] And once both the rear mounts where in place it got a bit tricky for me. coz i have the rear valance of the blue beetle.but it needed a bit of work. plus the whole lip thats welds to the engine lid bit was f@@cked so that had to come off the knackered valance but that lip was sound.confussed...so was i... First despot weld all the bits.and clean up. [/i mg] they where the originals. Make up some new metal. [i mg] [/im g] Better valance welded to old lip. [im g] [/im g] Hopefully it will fit........ [i mg] [/i mg] not too bad..
