PostSubject: Sky the 70' bug   Sky the 70' bug EmptyThu May 15, 2008 5:47 pm

Well, thought it was about time i put up a resto thread about my latest.

The kids named her Sky cos of the pale blue paintwork.

Ive had her 2 mths now & bought her as a project with the idea of gettin her ready for CTTP

Well, due to a very annoying mot tester that didnt happen, but after 4yrs off the road she was up & rolling again within 4 weeks.

I was so damn busy that while replacing pretty much all the brakes (metal pipes, flexi's, shoes, cylinders), a fair bit of the front suspension & welding up the spare wheel well & various bits of floor.....I forgot to take any pics affraid

She was sposed to be at the mid month but yet again the "debut curse" struck again......engine clattering like a maraca in a washing machine! Mad

So the 1st pic in this thread is gonna be from today.....Engine out!!

this is how she looked "as found".....I'd been driving past this front garden for the past couple of years & finally decided to stop & knock on the door.

After the 3rd time of stopping & talking to the old lady owner....the deal was done & she came back to Impy Plaza

dunno bout bumpers.....could stick with the Europa's but they are a bit "heavy" lookin if you know what i mean.

Dont think you should make later models look older with blades (but each to there own)

I like T-bars for simplicity but it dont go with the resto-cal ethos......decisions decisions Rolling Eyes

Cliff. I have got a pair of Europas you can have for £20. They have a little surface rust but would clean up ok I reckon. They were brand new 3 years ago and have just sat in a garage.
I reckon get the bumpers on there dude and get it slammed once the engine is sorted.
