I finsished my chores earlier so thought I would make a start on the roofrack.
It is a genuine Notchback rack but I thought it was looking a little scrappy so decided to freshen it up.

As you can see, it is looking a bit rough around the edges.

I drilled out the blind rivets and took the slatts off, then drilled then right out. I started to rub down the metalwork but rain stopped play.
I hope to have it rubbed back and primed again by the end of the week. Just have to get the slats rubbed back and varnished up then.

Got about 60-70% of the rack rubbed back last night. Could probably do with getting it finished off by a media-blaster.
Not had any luck yet finding the rivets with a large dia head.

Couldn't find anything like I am looking for on there matey.

Got some more paint off tonight. Need to get it blasted now to get the stubborn and arkward bits sorted. On to the slats then, they need to be rubbed back and restained/varnished.
Does anyone else run a roof-rack?? Can you show me a pic of the rubber end peices that proyect the guttering??? Not sure I am happy with the ones I have got so wouldn't mind sorting that too. Some replacement stainless bolts and we will almost be there..............

Hmmm, I might well end up doing that. I will give it another coat of primer and then rub it back with some fine wet and dry before laying on some top coat to see how it comes out..........if not it's back to Swifco!!

Hmmm, second coat of primer went on this morning and it appears to have made an improvement. I might go for a third coat before flatting it back with wet and dry before try some topcoat.
Only time will tell.......

Time did tell and it came out looking like William had sprayed it!!
So, it had gone back in to be re-blasted and powder-coated this time. Rolling Eyes

Waiting for them to call me as I might have changed my plan on the colour.

I have got to give the wooden slats another few coats of stain and they reassembly can begin, at long last.
