My Old 75 Bay

Toguth id share some pic's of my old resto project, a 1975 bay window delux..

Bought it like this...












Did a Load of work to it with hepl from a mate.

Wasnt gonna go with the unit's but thoght it was a little more pratical to have some storage and it has the added attraction of not having to empty the van after every camping trip

Just to make sure it was up to standard we took it for its first camping session...









Went about lowering and was sucsessfull









Got the bus sitting about 6 inches lower than it was at standard hight and now rides at about 8 inches off the road

Tin ware was given a good clean, bit of primer then a coat of yellow to match the bus,
Twin 40's were rebuilt and bolted on with all new fuel and vacum pipes to both carbs!

Looked cool as!





Do miss the old Bay but it had to go to make rom for the 62 Split!!

Cool looking Bay fella, I used to have a 73 Bay that looked very similair but never quite finished it beofre I sold it......

really nice , makes me think about selling mine and getting a bay...................

I have to say that I had never seen teledails on a Bay when I fitted them back in 2000, every bugger had them by the time I had it on the road (albeit briefly!!).

I loved watching the resto as it happened dude...

In this breif write up you done you seem to have missed out the words "i blew it up"

Sure ive seen this thread before, looks sweet as dude. How many splines was it dropped on the back? What size rims were they?

Was dropped 2 outer and 1 inner spline on the rear, and was running 16" rims, Had to get well low profile tyres on the front as they were hitting arches. Did have a few teething problems with it being that low at first but after a couple of months managed to over come the issues.
Great tip, never buy VW lowered shock, use Mini shocks and change over the inserts in the top bush, they give you better travel and they are shorter and less than half the price too
