I seem to have acquired another bug

Went to Taunton with an empty trailer and came back with another 70's Bug for the collection. Poor thing failed it's MOT on rust a couple of years back.

Still seems to have an OK 1600 TP engine, so it's not all bad.

At the very least I thought it made an attractive feature in the driveway. Mrs 1584cc however just rolled her eyes

Just managed to get the clutch unseized. It's been sat for a few years and took a lot of persuading to come unstuck.

How did you manage it fella???

First I started the car in second gear and alternated between accelerating hard then backing off the throttle, which resulted in much kangarooing up and down the drive, but no freed off clutch.

In the end I had to resort to putting the handbrake on and trying to get it to turn over when in third, not the best thing to do really but it worked.

.....and now it drives okay??

Made I larf to think of you hopping a bug up and down the road!!

Well I wouldn't go so far as to suggest it drives OK. But it moves backwards and forwards without kangarooing and has a radio that receives medium wave, what more could I ask for

Scoops, could you use your powers of moderation and move this to readers rides please? Maybe a more appropriate place...

Yeah it's the blue one. I was going to break it for bits as I only bought it for the engine. But can't bring myself to break a bug

Still not quite sure what to do with it really. Probably going to put it on the road as cheaply as possible and go from there (Although I have been looking at Baja kits )...
