Kim and Aggy eat ya heart out! Mk1 Gti Repl

Well, heres what she looked like on Saturday morning, 25 years of never being waxed by the look of it:





I normally love decals, but not the paper type ones!




So a bit of g3 and a moppage, then 2 coats of wax:

Then some bumper black:



Then the finishing piece, a set of tarantuals with new tyres (what a find Rik!)







The bonnet lets it down, so thats going matt black when the rain drys up.

What do you think?

Plans include to make it look like a campaign gti (except for the pirelli p's because I dont like them on mk1s), get gti trim badges (on their way in the post), and a deep chin spoiler, and a red banded grill. Then its done! Not a bad purchase, needs some small fettling, but a solid pokey base. The 1.3 is rapid, and because its so light it flys....

Ollie, my mate has his own bodyshop in Weston if you want me to get a price on respraying the bonnet white for ya?

Ooh yes please matey, I;d really appreciate that. I can do the rubbing down and rust removals if he could just blow over a couple of coats of white. Cheers mate. You're a star. How much do those wheels make a difference eh!

Looks spot on dude!

Only thing missing on a GTi is the lower splitter along the bottom of the front valance!

I'll get Sharon to ask Dave for a price on the bonnet when she's working at the pub Wednesday evening.
Oh and forgot to say ..... you'll know Dave's new sprayer!!!

Ahh is it Pat Bless him, he's more than trusted to tickle the bonnet with some paint.

I was sitting in the pub with Dave the other week & he was telling me about this totally mad black guy from Bridgewater he's employed as a sprayer, so I asked him if it was Pat 7 he nearly fell off his stool & spilt his pint

Pat is an utter legend, he's got so many funny stories, genuinely nice guy.

well let's hope he stops telling them long enough to spray cars then!!!

Now matt blacked the bonnet, fitted a gti duckbill spoiler, starting to take shape now.

Cheers guys, its getting there, I have to keep reminding myaself its only a daily hack not a show car, or it'll end up having a 'little freshen up' like mooneyes did and end up spending a fortune, lol. Should have my shinyride decals here tommorrow, and some fake bullet holes, oh and some german plates. I'll bring her to the next meet.
