The one on my Touran - 1.9TDi seems to work fine, but it don't half make a lot of noise compared to the one on my 2.0 TDi golf....
Is this normal or is it on the way out? Are there any simple tests I can do to determine whether it needs, or is gonna need replacement any time soon...

Does there seem to be any loss of power? Ther 1st thing i'd do is check for any boost leaks from any of the hoses, or check the airbox for any leaks. Or even the Downpipe or manifold Just because its making more noise, doesnt mean it could be faulty. But one way of checking turbo wear is to see if theres any movement in the 'impeller' shaft.
