Its been quite a productive weekend all in all...

Started of by replacing 3 of the 4 pushrod tubes on one side ( 3 had managed to get damaged while moving the engine about previously), then I went on to prepare, mask and primer my engine bay:

This is how it was when I started, I etch primed it sometime ago..  



I cleaned it all up, and prepped it some more, masked it all up and got busy with the high build primer:

RemTec... Best I can afford at the moment to get me going... The future looks different...

Collected my paint on Friday... No good to me in the can so I've spread it all over the engine bay... Gotta say, I pleased as punch with the results given I'm a total amateur who had used rattle cans to do this... It's no professional job, but its not a bad place to keep your engine!!

I made my own ply flooring (made from plans from here: http://www.eeza.co.uk/Camper/Westyfloor.zip), 2 plys - 1x9mm, 1x6mm

Top ply is bowing a little at the moment, this is just from where I had it leaning up against the wall in my garage for the past 2 weeks.. It should sort itself out.. I will put an edging strip on anyway once I decide what to put over the top of the ply..

a little more progress to report, I fitted the rear lights back in....

the reverse lights are OG and went straight in taking just moments to fit.. the main lights are repro, fitted purely to pass an MOT and will be removed straight after.. I'll spare the supplier by not saying who they are, but these lights are disgusting. The quality, reproduction of the original, fit, finish - every aspect of them is frankly shit. They don't even fit together as a supplied unit...

Anyway, here's my evenings work:

The Rusty Lee RnR bed is now fitted along with new securon rear seat belts for the little people:



And I fitted new engine bay seals too this evening:



I wanted to change the petrol tank filler pipe too this evening, but given the difference in length between the existing and the new pipe I've left this till another day until I get confirmation that I've been sent the right part:

So, after fitting a new hose (I returned the one shown about and sourced a different one from outside the VW scene) and installing the freshly powder coated firewall, I think I can say the engine bay is just about finished (at long last!!!)

New fuel filler hose installed:

It's a silicon hose with a flouro-carbon lining to make it suitable for contact with fuel and oil

Twin Dell 36's re-jetted and fitted with a CB Performance offset manifold kit:

CB performance Hex bar linkage and coil installed this evening..

Clutch is tomorrow's job.. I've had too much cider now! :beerchug:

Top effort mate, this Bus is ticking along nicely, I love it.

Are you planning to run the reverse lamps as reverse lamps or are you going to wire them up as indicator?

reverse lamps as reverse lamps with all-red lenses...

one small and very picky point, the hose clip on the filler pipe is on the piss, it will probably seal but not as well as if its on properly

Oh believe me, that fucker is well sealed without the clip being on there.. lets say the pipe is a good fit!
