| You might need to modify the spreader bar if the handbrake is shit | |

| Sorted n/s last night. It was in a worse state then the o/s. May order some new backing plates (but then would need to take off the rear hub... So will prob make do until I can get some adjustable spring plates ..) Torsion plate cover was wreaked. Leaving the van outside 6months has really taken it's toll. Also not fully seated! Rear brakes were well overdue a rebuild!!! Opps.. All new parts fitted and brake line made up. Thanks again to Wizpop. Now can refit brakes in half the time as we know what to do! Just need to bleed the whole system and adjust. | |

- How? ^^^
the gap that slots onto the shoes wears away so its too big so it will need welding. if you look at your handbrake lever it is already in the on position - tango_van wrote:
new star adjusters and pins. and copper slip added where needed
don't worry that handbrake cable was attached! (a right pain to do)
noted it needs new drive shaft gators again... only lasted 6 years.

| Do you have any measurements for the size/depth the groove should be. There is no fluid in the rear cylinders and not adjusted in the pics yet | |

| 10 or 11mm i seem to think you will probably have 1 groove 10mm the other 15mm, they should both be about the same | |

| Finally got round to bleeding the brakes this weekend. And stripped, cleaned the rebuilt up the rear axles, fitted new gators and rebuilt cv joints. One has slight wear on the inside and some pitting. Will replace all of them in the next month or so as will drop the box for some clean up and other plans. | |

| Nope. Not happening now. Went to pop some fuel in and blow off the cobwebs down the morrisons mile.. But only managed to turn it round. No brakes. Foot straight to the floor Think it needs a new servo/master cylinder. Pissed off. | |

| if you get time, clamp all 4 flexi hoses. pump pedal and if the pedal goes solid its not the m/c if it is solid, release one clamp at a time and when the pedal goes really soft again you have found the brake at fault. common causes are air trapped in system or poorly adjusted rear shoes. it cant be the servo but the master cylinder could be at fault. if you want a master cylinder i can get one from gsf in the morning for you and bring it home. if you need it then pay for it or i can return it. ring me before 10am if you want one. | |

| Thanks for the info, will have a check on Saturday. When I was pressure bleeding the system, it started to pour brake fluid out under the front end, collecting in the chassis rail at the low point behind the servo/master cylinder. So think it's a seal or a union... Also the revs drop a lot when the brakes are applied, so servo has a leak.(have replaced all servo pipe apart from the solid main line). | |

| Re-bled brakes again yesterday. Then readjusted rears. Have a brake pedal now. But no handbrake on the drivers side... Cable not moving. Thanks wizbiz for popping round. Made things easier!
Also: re-routed aux loom and put into a plastic cable sleeve and fixed reverse lights.
Will had to dismantle drivers side rear drum this morning to see what's not working..

| Sorted rear drum out. Handbrake lever was sat on the hub....
Me = stupid adjusting rear brakes with the handbrake cables not slackened off enough !!
So, 3rd time lucky!! Re-re-adjusted the brakes (with handbrake cables very slack) then checked and adjusted the handbrake with the rear wheels on the floor.
Also: sorted out a loose steering column base.
